Hi. My name is Connie Georghiou. I LOVE TO PAINT! Many years ago, as a young wife and mother, I was privileged to be able to enjoy many hobbies,such as gardening, floral arranging, various crafts and did a little Oil Painting without knowing what I was doing. I have always been fascinated with color, either in nature, the home, or food (one of my other passions is cooking).
Circumstances often dictate our direction in life, and I was subsequently obligated to get a "real" job and there was no more time for hobbies. Twenty wonderful years later, I ended up with an early enhanced pension from a fantastic Fortune 500 company where I was a Marketing Staff Director in New York responsible for residence sales in New York and New England. I quickly became a maniacal gardener with over 100 rose bushes(actually, almost 200) and a perennial garden to die for, until minor physical limitations forced me to give up serious gardening.
In 2004,I discovered my true passion...painting! I took some classes, became thoroughly addicted and went on to become a Certified Instructor of One Stroke painting. I teach decorative painting privately and in my studio. I've sold many decorative pieces and canvasses and have done a variety of commissioned, custom walls, borders, furniture and decorative gifts. My passion is painting on canvass, but I love doing murals, as well. I enjoy exploring many different painting techniques and am constantly trying to expand my knowledge and skills and have studied with various renowned artists. There's always a new horizon of learning out there........wish there were enough time to do it all, but I'm having the time of my life in the process.
I've been privileged to have had 12 of my original designs published in The Stroking Edge. I was honored to receive the Best in Show Award for one of my designs at the MDCF Silent Auction in July '06 and won 3rd prize for another one of my original designs in the HSN Nationwide contest in March '07. I am a member of: The Society of Decorative Painters, The Phoenix chapter of SDP - Cactus Wrens Decorative Artists, and I am a Friend of the Decorative Arts Collection. As a volunteer at my local hospital, and Memory Box chairman at my local chapter, I convinced the hospital to embrace the Memory Box program. My chapter agreed to adopt them, as well as, their sister hospital in a neighboring town, which also heartily agreed to be an adoptee of our chapter.
