PictureTrail Announces "Mobile-to-Postcard" Application for Java-Enabled Camera Phones

"M2P" postcard application offers differentiation, steady revenue stream for carriers

Santa Clara, October 25, 2004 - PictureTrail, a popular photo sharing website and wireless application developer, today announced the availability of mobile2postcard, a service that allows subscribers to send picture postcards via regular mail to friends, family and business contacts directly from their Java-enabled camera phones.

A version of the application for BREW-enabled camera phones is expected to be certified in November.

mobile2postcard is the first of several "digital to analog" applications PictureTrail is developing for the Java and BREW platforms that allow owners of graphics-capable handsets to convert digital images to hard copy prints, creating more tangible, memorable and lasting impressions.

"Our goal is to create compelling applications that enable users to do more with photos captured with their camera phones," said Val D'Souza, president of PictureTrail. "This application allows any camera phone user to snap a picture, type a message and automatically send a personalized postcard by regular mail anywhere in the United States."

Users can sign up for the service via the mobile2postcard website www.mobile2postcard.com. After providing billing information, the subscriber has the option of creating a list of "favorites," which includes the names and mailing addresses of friends, family and business contacts. The favorites list is uploaded to the camera phone and offers "one touch" mailing by simply selecting the person's name from the favorites list.

mobile2postcard is available now via select camera phones and carriers, which are listed on the mobile2postcard website. The application costs $4.95, which includes three postcards. Subscribers then have the option of purchasing postcards in groups of three for $4.95 or have each postcard billed directly to a credit card. The price might vary based on the carrier.

"This service is ideal for any situation where you don't have time to buy postcards or make a run to the post office," D'Souza said. "We also process the images using proprietary algorithms to improve image quality before they are printed to the postcard."
