Dave Sandersfeld: Jesika @ Red bubble recommended I check your site for lowly "dolmen structures". They are not very photogenic; so not photographed very often! I have discovered what appears to be one, according to Irish RB Shay Larkin - in Oregon!
I am just trying to get more information on this odd feature of Celtic culture? Ours does not appear to be a burial mound; rather some sort of ceremonial feature. I am going back to site on winter solstice to see the ssunrise at this spot on earth?

Ron Ireland: Nice to see your photos, I used to live up there in the early eighties while serving as a Lighthouse keeper on Copinsay while my family lived in Stromness.
We loved Orkney and in an ideal world would still be there. We are fortunate that we now live in Oban on the West coast but Orkney to me still beats it hands down both in scenery, atmosphere and the friendliness of the natives.

My first visit to Kirkwall this summer coincided with the arrival of the World of Residensea. We stayed in a hotel overlooking the harbour so these photos bring back lovely memories.
