Debbie: We took home Ginger in July 2009 and LOVE her so much. Her and Prince (80 lb shepherd) are living happily ever after. She has one dog and one cat friend that she lives with. Ginger was the "underdog" at the adpotion that day, the mystery terrier mix. We got the BEST dog ever. She's so sweet and loves to the play with everyone with two or four legs. She wasn't leashed trained, but you wouldn't have even known that. She's SO smart. Thanks Colorado Puppy Rescue for providing us with a GREAT dog.

nikki: Hello. I am not sure what number our cute little puppy was. We got her Sept 2009. We now call her Sassy. She is a chocolate lab mix and yes she is very "sassy". She is very active. She loves going on her walks, playing with just about anything that you can throw, and learning new tricks. When is finally decides that she is done playing she loves to cuddle and have her belly rubbed. She will follow you around and sit right in between your leg while you are cooking (so cute). When we got her she was very skinny. She is finally putting on weight and is now weighing 27lbs. She has been such a great addition to our home. Thanks

Angela S.: Hey Guys! My husband and i have been volunteering and occasionally fostering for CPR for a year and a half now, and they ROCK. In July of '08 i went to foster and immediately picked the most adorable puppy from the lot. In fact, she hadn't even made it through shots at that point. She was just being carried in from the car. She went from shots and paperwork to my arms and straight home. When i took her out of her crate in the yard i immediately noticed she wasn't using one of her back legs. I kept her overnight for observation then took her back to Kim's (our executive director) house. She then took the puppy to the vet where it was discovered she had a fractured leg that was healing badly. CPR paid for this little girl to have the necessary surgery to hopefully give her the best life on all 4 legs. She came back to our home for the next two weeks to heal before she could be cleared for adoption. It was during that time that we fell irretrievably in love with Lyla and knew that she was meant for our home. Lyla is sweet, gentle and very smart. She was a breeze to train and is now nearing a year and a half! We're so glad to have her in our lives.

Sarah: Hello! We adopted #366, now known as Floyd. He was the smallest of his littermates at 4lb. when we adopted him in May of 2007. He is now 50lbs. of love! He loves to give kisses and talk to us. Thank you so much CPR for everything you do!

ulli: Hi Colorado puppy rescue...We fostered for CPR for about a year, before we met our Maggie. We fostered her for few days before my daughtere and son begged me to keep her. Knowing how much a Border Collie needs attention, i was hesitant. After our Family held a conference and my kids gave me their allowence, we decided to adopt her. We went to 2 Obedience classes and to some Agility classes. We are so happy to have her in our lives, not so sure how our 6 year old cat really feels about her! We still foster once in awhile, but we could not imagine House without Maggie!!! Thank you Cpr for all your work !!!

Danelle & Sarah: Hello! I purchased a beautiful 9 week old puppy for my partner on Christmas Eve. Bella is now 45 pounds, healthy, house trained, and loved dearly! When we first adopted her, Colorado Puppy Rescue had no clue what breed she was but as she got older we realized she was part Pit Bull and Lab. It really scared us at first because of all the negative press Pits receive. She is a great puppy and a very good watch dog. Please let me know where I can send pics of her to show you. Thank you for the wonderful addition to our family!

Cheesecurds: BEWARE of Megan Honaker of Full Pawtential. She was abusive to my dog and beat him when he would not obey her abusive style of training. AVOID HER AT ALL COST.

Crystal & Ken: We adopted Lacey (tag #89) 3 weeks ago. Boy have our lives changed! I'm not used to getting up 2-3 times a night to take her out but I am adjusting. She is settling in and potty training is going well. Our family loves her, we are slowly intruducing her to our 3 grand children. We want to be very careful that the children treat the puppy well and that the puppy learns how to behave with the kids. We have been in touch with Laceys brother Ryder from the same litter and he is doing well also. I will post photos in the next day or so. Thank you! My only question is, do you offer reduced DNA testing so we can identify what breed she really is?

Carol Byrd: Thank you for bringing Jameson to me this past July! He and I needed each other. He is a aussie mix and so loving. He goes to doggy day care and they all adore him. He takes care of other dogs and plays so hard. The vets love him and he always is anxious to see them. I will always recommend you and when time comes go through you for another dog. By the way he is 10 months old now. Thanks again, Carol Byrd

Monty: ATTN Colorado Puppy Rescue (CPR): Let me first commend you all on the jobs you do, the time donated and the care you give to puppies. I honestly appreciate you all. I have some very sad news. My wife and I adopted puppy #60...or Monty as we like to call him. We instantly fell in love if such a thing is possible and brought him into our home and our hearts on Saturday Jan. 17th 2009. Like everyone that has hopes or dreams, we had hopes and dreams for our Little Guy. We are very torn up over the death of our Monty... he died lastnight sometime...he was being treated for Giardia - a parasite. Please understand that at this moment, I have very conflicting emotions and while I do appreciate the care and medical attention given him... please please accept this peice of advice. NEVER tell someone that death is out of the question. That was the worst phone call to get this morning - I had no expectations that he would die. sigh...im sorry. We are very hurt. This sad incident will not prevent us from adopting another puppy and giving them the love and home that we still desire to share. I just want my Monty...he was so good. Please please dont let the others die from this too...

Sheba Lou's Mom: We want to THANK YOU for bringing Sheba into our lives. We adopted her a year ago today and she has been a blessing from the second we laid eyes on her. She was so skinny and timid. It is amazing what can happen in a years time. She was 14 pounds when we brought her home and is now over 60 pounds & as healthy as a horse. She plays with each and every toy you get her, sometimes 3 or 4 at a time. An extra THANK YOU to her foster mom Jennifer.

Linda: Hello Colorado Puppy Rescue----- Just wanted to drop a line to thank you for my beautiful Australian Shepherd that I adopted on December 15,2007-----He is very playful and has a fantastic personality, and he does "herd". Jen: I wanted to give an update on Stella I adopted her on 10/11/08. She is a wonderful girl with a great personality that is developing everyday. She loves our other two dogs, Max and Quincy who I also adopted from the Colorado Puppy Shelter. Stella is very friendly and loves to go for rides in the car. I am thankful I popped into the adoption event in Aurora. Cheers, Jen

Lydia Wylie: I wanted to give you an update about our baby "Shelby". It has been 15 months since I brought her home. She is a wonderful dog, and is so much part of our lives. She still adores her "Bounder" and still drags him out of the house by his ears! She brings us so much joy. Again, we can't Thank-you enough for all of your efforts in bringing this outcasts out for adoption. We have recommended Colorado Puppy Rescue to several people and they have had great success with their adoptions also.

ambgirl3833: CPR: I just wanted to say thank you. I adopted "puppy 199" When we got him, he was so small, but mighty, only weighing in at 12.5 pounds. Haz-Mat is now ten months old and a healthy 65+ lbs. He has brought so much to our home, that is hard to think of a time when he wasn't a part of it. Pictures to follow. Amy
September 30, 2008 9:56PM

Megan Honaker: I'm writing to update you on Peyton. I got her last October 2007 (almost a year ago) from you guys. She is a border collie mix, probably with heeler. I'm a certified dog trainer and she certainly made me exercise all of my training skills, but has turned out wonderful. She is smart as a whip, knows a lot of tricks, and will start agility and maybe flyball this year or early next year. I would love to volunteer my time to help anyone with difficulties training their new puppies. Contact fullpawtential@yahoo.com for more information.
September 14, 2008 5:27PM

tabitha: I wanted to give you an update on Dakota (#140). She is almost 10 months old and 80 lbs. Her and her sister are the best of friends. She is a joy every day.She is happy, playfull and full of energy. She is the sweetist dog in the world.I couldn't ask for a more loving girl. She still has a few health problems from the parvo she had at 12 weeks. She is the best dog in the world. Thank you.

Darlene: I adopted puppy number 512 from you guys in the middle of june. He is a Newfie mix and the best dog ever! When we first got him he was so shy he had to be carried around everywhere (even outside to go to the bathroom!) and as you can imagine that got to be a difficult task seeing as he is already 25 lbs. After about 2 weeks he completely warmed up to us and now he is as happy as can be and even walks on a leash! He is so good with our 1 year old son and we couldnt have asked for a better addition to the family. THANK YOU SO MUCH CPR!!
August 6, 2008 11:18AM

Elizabeth: My family adopted the basset houd mix last week and we have decided to name him copper. He has been doing very well I just wanted to say thanks you so very much. He is the newest addition to our family and we enjoy him. Thank You

Tonja: Khai puppy number 24 I adopted in Jan has been spayed and is doing very well. Shes come a long long way from that shy little puppy that wouldnt come out of her crate to be adopted. Shes a real joy to me and my family and my dog Neptune..they are inseperable. Again thank you so much for all you do for these puppies and i am so grateful to have Khai in my life.
May 15, 2008 9:33AM

Jennifer: I adopted puppy # 101 in February. Jake became ill that night so I immediately brought him to Alameda East Vet hospital. After 5 days in the hospital Jake is healthy, happy and extremely cute german shepherd. I think his 5 day stay in the hospital made him a very spoiled dog, he needs constant attention from anyone who walks past him and loves to curl up in my lap. The vets still aren't sure if it was a gastrological problem or parvo but all that matters is that he is healthy. Everyone referred to him as "lucky # 101" the day I adopted him and now I know why. Thank you CPR for bringing me my loving puppy!
April 26, 2008 12:43AM

grey: Puppy number #24 adopted Jan. 18, 08 has come a long way in the few months we have had her. Khai is outgoing and very friendly to people and other dogs. She loves her new brother, home and toys. All the toys are hers she thinks along and will have a toy yet take toys from her brother, Neptune who is so palcid about it he will just take another toy to play with. Khai loves her afternoon walks with her brother and Dennis . I am so happy she has adapted so well to our home and is very welcome addition. We just love having her here. The only problem we have encountered with her is her chewing, anything paper she loves to shred it then prance around like shes done something good and to be proud of. We are working to stop her from chewing though. Khai weights a whopping 30 lbs at almost 6 months old, is in good health, has all her shots and city license now which she loves to jingle on her collar. She is now on her 2nd collar since her neck is as round as she is. Thought you all would like an update on her.
March 19, 2008 10:30AM

Tabitha: I adopted puppy 140, her name is Dakota. 5 days after adopting her, she came down with parvo. She was in the hospital for 5 days. The doctor said she almost didn't make it. She has been out of the hospital for a week now. She is back to running around and playing with my other dog. She is the sweetest girl in the world. I am so glad i adopted her.

Jim & Sara: We adopted puppy #98 the special needs mix last weekend at the adoption fair, He is now doing wonderfully and has come along way, his special needs haven't inhibited him what so ever and he is blossoming into a wonderful little guy. :) He now eats with our older boarder collie Max (his grandpa :D ) and plays with him and our cat kimber as well. His name is now Atticus now and hes doing great with his training, hes almost completely housebroken and hes learning to play fetch. :) we'll send some pix as soon as we can. thanks CPR 3
February 29, 2008 7:04PM

grey: An update on Khai...puppy #24 adopted 3 weeks ago, has really come along, she is now completely out of her shell. She comes when called, is housebroken now and plays well with my border collie. She is wonderful on her leash without pulling and loves to go for rides with her brother in the car. She enjoys her frisbee and tennis ball in the yard along with Neptune our border. I cannot thank you all enough for the opportunity to adopt this wonderful little husky mix. She did well with her puppy checkup, her shots and is now sporting her rabies tag with pride. She is 14-15 weeks old and now weighs 25.6 lbs...little piggy.

January 17, 2008 12:19PM

grey: We adopted a puppy 3 days ago, her number was 24 a little mixed breed husky that I fell in love with the moment I saw her picture on this site. Her name is now Khai and she is doing wonderfully. She has come out of her shell, is playing with my border collie, eats like a little piggy and sleeps without whining. She is a welcomed joy to our home and we have just fallen in love with her. Thank you so very much for allowing us to have this pudgy little bundle of energy. She definately has her forever home with us.
January 15, 2008 10:43AM

Annie: I adopted a wonderful puppy from Colorado Puppy Rescue. We named her Kaylee. She's a heeler/shiba inu mix. The smartest dog and cutest dog ever! Thanks CPR! You were very helpful in the adoption process.
January 8, 2008 12:39PM

coloradopuppy: There are many illnesses going around right now such as kennel cough, parvo and coccidiosis. Please protect your puppy by making sure to keep current on vaccinations and reduce exposure by only introducing your puppy to other animals that you know. We recommend avoiding dog parks and pet stores until your puppy shots are complete. Parvovirus is extremely contagious. Infection is generally attributed to ingestion of material contaminated by dog feces and can occur when a dog smells or licks the ground. Direct contact with another dog is not necessary for infection. According to Dr. Debra Primovic the Parvo virus can have symptoms similar to many other diseases. Some include: an inflammatory condition of the gastrointestinal tract causing bloody diarrhea, other viral infections of the intestines, such as coronavirus and other viruses with similar (though not as serious) symptoms of parvovirus, and Parasites, like intestinal worms that feed on an animal host (some also cause bloody diarrhea, vomiting, weakness, weight loss and lethargy) causing similar symptoms of parvovirus. There are tests that a veterinarian can perform to tell if your puppy has parvo. According to Dr. Debra Primovic: The ELISA test (CITE-Parvo TEST) The collection and testing of a stool sample is the most practical and thorough method for diagnosis. However, it is possible to get a [false] positive test 5 to 17 days after routine vaccination for parvovirus and/or A complete blood count (CBC). If you DO get a parvo diagnosis DON’T PANIC! Approximately 80 to 90 percent of affected dogs will survive and lead normal lives if disease is detected early and proper treatment and hospitalization is sought and administered. Colorado Puppy Rescue highly recommends that potential adopters educate themselves on puppy diseases prior to adopting a puppy.

: i got a puppy from here on the 10th of november and 2 weeks after having him he got a very bad case of parvo and we had to put him down. the vet said with as bad as he was it was a 60 40 chance of him surviving. 60% being the non surviving. so just beware everyone

Amanda: I just wanted to say thank you sooooo much. I adopted a white shepard mix boy from you(#850) on October 6th 2007. He is the most awsome puppy. His name is Billy. He has comepletly come out of his shell and is no longer shy and afraid of everyone. And he has brought sooo much joy to the house. If the family that adopted his sister sees this please shoot me a line. I would love to know how she is doing. pnkdemon@hotmail.com

Liz: We got a beautiful pup from CPR about two years ago. After a successful adoption, we decided to "give back" by becoming a foster family. This week we have one of the 4 month old pointer mixes - the one with the mostly black face (#936). He's fantastic . . . super sweet, sleeps through the night, uses our doggie door to let himself out. A family will be lucky to have this guy!
November 8, 2007 1:03PM

Sara S.: We got our first puppy on 9/5/07 and are just so happy! Piper was one of about 8 in the litter of black lab mixes and she stole our hearts in about 20 seconds. Everybody with Colorado Puppy Rescue was just great and we are already planning on getting our next dog through them. They are caring people finding caring homes for puppies that otherwise wouldn't have a great shot at life. Thank you for what you do and for bringing Piper into our lives! We love her!
October 29, 2007 12:21PM

Georgina Guzman: My boyfriend and I got Freckles a month ago fom the CPR, he has brought so much fun and love to our house. Nowbody knew exactly what he was, the rescue thought he was a german shepherd mix but he looks so different from them, the trainer told us maybe he had some belgium malinois, we looked it up and he looks just like them!! We couldn't be happier with him! Thanks so much for your great organization, for the joy you bring to the families that adopt a new puppy but the most important, for finding new homes for these puppies.
October 5, 2007 7:55AM

Kristi: We adopted Mack 8/11/07. He is a healthy Border Collie Mix. He has been such a joy to have and I am truly grateful to CPR and all their hard work because as we all know - puppies are A LOT of work! Thank you so much for saving our Mack so we could adopt him. Continue with the great work that you all do and I will always refer CPR to anyone who is looking to adopt a dog!
September 28, 2007 12:09AM

Marilyn Vargas: We adopted our little white shepherd/heeler mix on 9/1/07. What an absolute doll he is!! Even our year old female cocker mix is in love with him. He is a great addition to our household and has already started puppy school. He seems very happy with us also. I'm happy to say that I referred a co-worker to you guys and she and her son adopted a little sheltie mix on Saturday 9/15/07. It made me so happy to see that all the puppies that were available this weekend got placed into homes. I will refer anyone who is looking for a puppy to your organization. This is a great thing you are doing and I'm so happy to see so many wonderful puppies getting good homes. Please keep up the good work.
September 17, 2007 3:48PM

Vicki Price: I adopted my little guy(victor) on Sept. 1st and he is just a dream. Thank you so much for doing this for the puppies.
September 4, 2007 7:16AM

Lydia Wylie: We have been blessed with Shelby since July 14, 2007. She is an Australian Shepherd, Blue Heeler mix, that is a little stinker!!! She is a bundle of joy, and full of it. She is so cute with her little antics, and she loves her big brother Bounder. He wishes she would stop biting his ears though. Our home is now complete because of the wonderful people at CPR. Thank you for your efforts and dedication. We have rescue animals only in our home. I have told so many people about CPR and the wonderful experience we had at the adopt-a-thon. Our son and daughter-in-law also adopted that day, and Cherry is just as wonderful. Please keep up the good work. God bless all of you. Lydia
September 3, 2007 7:58PM

Moni: We adopted our adorable little girl, Bailey, from an adoption fair in April 2007. Bailey is a spirited pup full of energy and love and has brought much joy and happiness to our household. What a wonderful organization Colorado Puppy Rescue is! We have told many people about CPR in hopes that they will find a pup to love as much as we love ours. We cannot imagine our lives without Bailey and are so grateful that she joined our family.
August 31, 2007 9:05PM

Gretchen: This summer, my husband and I rescued a very pregnant mom and helped her deliver 4 pups at our home in Taos. We gave these 4 pups lots of love and affection and their mom was great with them too. A good friend took one of them but we had to take the other 3 to the Animal Shelter here in Taos who then took them up to Colorado Rescue. Doing this broke our hearts! We've been anxiously following them on your website and noticed this past Sunday 8/26/07 they weren't up for adoption any longer. We are so happy they found homes!! I can now feel at peace that they found their little path in life! Thanks for all that you do.
August 27, 2007 11:38AM

He has had his return vet visit and is doing well. I will send pics in as well. Hope all the new family members are doing well.

coloradopuppy: To Bon: I LOVE the captions! What a neat idea. Thanks for adding your special touch to jazz up our pages. We hope to see more.
April 19, 2007 12:57PM

D: THANK YOU COLORADO PUPPY RESCUE!!! Everyone involved with this organization does a phenomenal job with the puppies and have undoubtedly saved hundreds of lives in the process. The dedication that is shown by all the volunteers and fosters as well as the staff in unsurpassed. Please do not let empty threats and negative comments deter you from continuing your mission. People that take out their frustrations in such a nasty and negative way are classless and tasteless. I am sorry for the few people that have lost puppies, but unfortunately that is life. Not every living thing born is born healthy and meant to thrive. I am sure I am not alone when I state that I stand behind the people and the organization. KEEP UP THE WONDERFUL WORK YOU DO!!!
April 19, 2007 6:54AM

bon: Hello, We are looking for a pup and when I happened upon your site, I looked at the photo albums. Dogs are my favorite living things and I took the liberty to caption many of the photos. I hope that the captions are enjoyed by all and I hope none of the captions are offensive to any dog lovers. If you like them, I'm glad. If you feel they were not appropriate, please just it in the guestbook and I will not continue to do so. Thank you for the wonderful work and the beautiful website. bon

BethAnn: Oct, 06 I loss my darling Melody (Wolf/Shep) to age related issues. I was so depressed that when I got off work I'd sit in the parking lot of my condo just not wanting to go in for fear of the lonely and depressed emptiness that still haunted the place. I was looking in the paper and saw the add for CPR, so I figured I'd go to see what they had to offer. I was looking for a girl dog, since that is all I've ever had, but sitting there in a cage was the cutiest little boy dog. He is and Aussie mix. I fell in love with him and took him home. Now, this place has so much love and life again. I love my little guy "Ozzy". Thanks so much CPR for your understanding and compasion during that rough time, but most of all for Ozzy.
March 28, 2007 9:56PM

Paul & Maggie: Well my number was 171 I was adopted on 2/24 I now have a name. My Name is Pepper. My first day and night where pretty busy. I have a cat that I am keeping busy. I am learning to do my business outside and only had 3 accidents in my new home. I am still scared being outside in my yard alone. Lots of dogs that bark and scare me. But I love my new family and they love me. Thanks from Paul & Maggie for an exceptional and very loving dog. She has lots of energy. Just wanted people know how rewarding adoption can be.
February 25, 2007 8:34AM

Gina: I adopted Sammy (#19) on Jan 7th and I don't think I could have picked a better dog, or a better rescue. I got a puppy just a couple months before sammy that I only had a week becuase he had parvo when we adopted him. We spent over $1200 on merlin in that week, and he still didn't make it. With CPR I didn't have to worry about that. Thank you! You are running a wonderful orginazation.
February 3, 2007 2:41PM

Holly: We adopted Lily Jan 20th, 06. She is a Jack Russell mix, that was brought back to CPR, so we are her 3rd house. I'm thinking... " ARE THOSE PEOPLE CRAZY?" She is a great joy, a fantastic puppy. She just needed the right people!! Thank you Colorado puppy rescue for everything you do for these animals in need!!!!!
January 22, 2007 12:15PM

Sara and Hitch: We adopted Asia (846) from you and I just wanted to tell you she is doing great. She learned to use the doggie door within 2 weeks. She has been a wonderful addition to our family and the perfect annoying baby sister to our boys. Thanks.
December 30, 2006 10:16AM

The Shirk Family: We are the proud parents of Aspen! She came to us when we were fostering for Colorado Puppy and we could not return her. We ended up keeping her and she is the sweetest, loving and most tender hearted animal we have ever owned. She lives with her big sister Maple who is also an adopted puppy and is quite happy. We love working with the Colorado Puppy group. They are endlessly dedicated to the rescue of these animals and put in hours and hours of work that is very seldom acknowledged. I am proud to be a part of their fostering group and deeply appreciate their efforts!

Noahs Ark Shelter: Colorado Puppy Rescue provides a wonderful service for the rural areas. With out their help we would be forced to euthanize litters of puppies. What a great help they are to all the rural areas. Noahs Ark Animal Welfare

Sarah, Mackenzie, and Stranger: We adopted Scherzo (italian for happy little song), our blue heeler pup in June. She came from a New Mexico shelter to us in Colorado, the driver handed her to sarah and then she picked her out again because she had the biggest ears of the litter! Since we've taken her up through wyoming, into montana and out to oregon. Along the way she chased sheep on the foothills of the rockies, met ranch dogs and city dogs, learned to heal off leash, say I love you colorado puppy rescue, and eaten things too disgusting to mention out loud. We'd love to hear how her litter mates are doing, if they're as amazing and disgusting as Scherzo is. So if you happened to adopt one of her brothers or sisters (you can tell by whether or not you got a very vocal blue heeler pup, some with cowlicks!) PLEASE PLEASE EMAIL US! You can see pictures of sherzo's adventures at www.flickr.com/photos/deadoikos or send us an email, deadoikos@gmail.com . thanks CO puppy rescue!!

Mocha's Mom: We just wanted to thank you for bringing us our precious Mocha. We adopted her in April and have not had a dull moment. She has the best personality and the best smile, yes I said smile. She is a bundle of energy and sleeps maybe twenty minutes a night, well it seems that way. I can't thank you enough for doing the things you do otherwise we never would have met our precious gift. Thank you "Mocha's mom"

Ashley Garrod: I adopted Mavrick back in April 06, he is a wonderful addition to our family and so cute and friendly. Thank you CPR for everything, without your help we would never had this wonderful addition to our family. I recommend your shelter to everyone, thanks!

Pat Steele: My name is Pat Steele, I'm retired and once a week I go to the Shelters and people who rescue animals and pick up puppies to take to Colorado to find homes. I've been doing this for 4 years now and I would like to thank Kim (Puppy Rescue) for saving the lives of thousands of puppies. Colorado Puppy Rescue (Saint Kim as we refer to her her) has been a wonderful organization that shows care, responsibilty and compassion to every wonderful puppy we take up there. The pictures of the puppies and the adoptive parents I receive back for every puppy I take up there is worth its weight in gold because they would not have survived in New Mexico. We (the volunteers) spend thousands of dollars and hundreds of hours of our own time and money to find a safe and responsible place for these precious animals. I would personally like to thank Kim and her volunteers for the wonderful job they do and without them thousands of puppies would not be alive or they would be confined to a life in a Shelter. (RE: negative Craigslist postings) Before you criticize people who try to find loving homes for animals, spend a day walking a dog in a Shelter and have your heart broken when you leave them in their kennels. Instead of criticizing good people who are trying to help maybe you should volunteer your time in rescue or a Shelter that needs your help. It's sad but true - "No good deed goes unpunished" Pat Steele - New Mexico rescue

Breanne Haven: I was so sad to read the message about Maggie. I can't imagine what I would feel if I lost my precious little Buttercup. It's so hard to loose a beloved pet now matter how long they are in our lives for. My deepest sympathies to the family that lost her. To CRP resuce, you do OUTSTANDING jobs saving these puppies from shelters. I can't imagine what would have happened to my Buttercup if you hadn't been the connection between us. A big hand to all that you do in sacrifice of time and energy to help these precious pups, great is your reward. Please continue to keep up the good work and help many more families be connected with their babies!

coloradopuppy: RE Maggie: See Below - Cheryl Brown is understandably grief stricken and now angry over the loss of Maggie. We as rescuers have devoted most of our lives to the saving of puppies and take every loss of a puppy personally and very seriously. That, to Cheryl, came off as uncaring, but that is truly not the case. After speaking at length with Cheryl’s vet, Dr Dallman at Woodlawn Veterinary Clinic, there was no way of knowing when or why Maggie contracted her virus. (It is known that most viruses present themselves within 3 – 8 days of exposure). We, like Cheryl were concerned about possible exposure to any other puppy associated with Maggie. Thankfully the two other puppies rescued from the Raton, NM shelter with Maggie are happy and healthy in their adoptive homes. CPR adopts with a contract that has an illness clause with a full refund up to 8 days after adoption. Each adopter receives a free 30 day health care insurance policy that covers up to $500 for most major illnesses. A free vet exam is available to all adopters for up to a week after adoption at over 40 different vet offices. We, as do our adopters, count on these professionals to find any unknown problems. Most of CPR’s puppies for adoption are seen by a vet prior to transport, (as was Maggie). Most come to us with a vaccination from the shelter that we rescue from. All puppies are up to date with a combination shot, a kennel cough vaccine & a wormer. Though that is no guarantee that a puppy will not get ill, we do our best to adopt only healthy and happy puppies. We at CPR commend Cheryl for taking such great care of Maggie while she was a part of her family. We are truly sorrowed that Maggie became ill and surcommed due to that illness. We can only hope that Cheryl, as do we, finds comfort in the fact that Maggie lived the last month of her life in a warm and loving home.

Maggie: Hi: My name WAS Maggie and I was adopted by some nice people who had a big brother for me. I got very sick 3 weeks after I was adopted and the vets who had me in intensive care told my parents that I had been sick LONG before they got me. I died a week later. Kim didn't care that my mother and father were grieving, instead cared about the Broncos game she was watching at a sports bar and didn't want to be interrupted when she got a call from my mother saying that I had died. My parents were never offered an apology, a refund, and were completely rebuffed by Kim. I have my own little urn that contains my ashes and my mom is very sad about that. So is my brother.
