Doug L. Smith: Greetings to all students, from an alumnus from yore. Spent many fine days and formed many fine memories with friends and staff. Do you still float home-made boats down the canal during the rainy season? Play capture the flag? Red Rover? Some of the best remembered activities we did as a school body was "Field-Day", and those intermural competitions with Tambo. I came in first one year for the mile run at 6-11. Edby Pardo was champ the year before, and Gary Weibe later bested the field of runners in his time. Grace and peace to you, in Jesus the Messiah. I'm now in the North Caucasus, and hope to come to Bolivia, in order to encouage Bolivian musicians and farmers to join in the harvest work here among Muslims. With warm regards, Doug

David Ting: I have very fond memories from the semester I spent at Carachipampa in the winter (well, I guess it was actual summer in Bolivia) of 1972. From the guestbook, I recognize Christine Gunderson from Mr. Ruggles' science class, and Colin Tamplin and Paul Wilcox from the dorm. I also recall Paul's parents (Uncle Charlie and Aunt Helen), Aunt Ruby, Mr. Ruggles, the Ruggles brothers (David and Jonathan), the Stairs children, Andrew, Becky, and Susan from then. I left Bolivia in the summer (winter) of 1972 and came to the US. I went on to become a physicist. My wife Teresa and I have three children, and we live in California. I hope to be able to get back in touch some old friends from Carachi some day. [ dzt8@hotmail.com ]

Christine (Gunderson) Jordan: What a wonderful surprise to find that Charachi has a website! I attended the school 1967-1973 (Grades 5-9) as well as my two brothers Dan and Peder. I was great to see classmates Andrew, Colin, Peter Wilcox write in as well. I heard about this website after talking to Marilyn Rosbottom this past week. Such wonderful, fun, warm memories of those years in Bolivia. I now live in St John in the US Virgin Islands with my husband Mike. We sailed here from San Francisco in 1991 taking 4 years to travel along the Mexican, Costa Rican and Panamanian shores and through the Canal. I work as a nurse on the island's only Clinic/ER. Thank you for keeping the school going and message of hope in Christ for future generations. God Bless, Chris

Becky Stotler: Sorry, my family was at Carachi from1986-1990 (typo - really:) I would love to hear from anyone. Thanks.
April 21, 2008 6:32PM

Becky Blish (now Becky Stotler): I am so excited to see and read about Carachi. Wow, has it changed - it looks beautiful! My brother and sister and I attended there from 1988-1990. I was in 6-9th grades there. I was looking through old yearbooks a while back wishing there was a way to get in contact with my friends from Carachipampa - not thinking to see if there was a website. Duh! I was just thinking about Carachi this past weekend and the next day my sister Debby called and told me about the website. I am always amazed at God's unexpected blessings!! Talk about blessings - what a blessing CCS was for me. It has been great seeing updated pictures of friends and classmates including Monica Carvallo, Michelle Aukino, Olivia Dibos, Lineth Carreon, Rebecca Skinner, Melody Work, Rhea Michaud, Jonathan Steele, Rodrigo Arteaga, Rodrigo Leon, Paul Scarborough, Paula Llosa, all the Wrys, Lizzette and Jimmy Lazaneo. I recognize many others, including some of Andy and Debby's classmates, as well as teachers. Hopefully those people remember me:) Let's see - I attended Eastern Nazarene College in Boston, where I met my husband, an MK from South Africa. We were married in 1995 and both graduated from Southern Nazarene University in Oklahoma City. I worked as an RN for 6 years and now I am a full-time mom to Gloria (8) and Isaiah (4). I am very involved in school (room mom, lead worship - the guitar lessons from Miss Penney came in handy) and our local church here in Morris Couty, New Jersey. I have so many memories from CCS - when the Narnia movie came out, I kept thinking about the Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe play we did in 7th grade. I could go on, but I have taken up more than enough space. I would love to bring my family to visit Cochabamba and CCS will definately be on our list. I miss you all. In Christ's love, Becky - stotjj@juno.com

Robert (Bobby) Lazaneo: It's been years since the last time I entered CCS's website, and seeing the old pictures again sure brought lots of memories. I attended CCS when the dinosaurs still roamed the earth and military dictatorships threatened the school year (1981-1985), when the Ruby Miller building wasn't even a project and Ruby Miller taught us Bible class, when choir and plays were performed in a tiny auditorium, and when new goalposts and the playground were set up. (By the way, I once held CCS's record for ball throwing distance. Didn't last long, though.) The classmates I remember are (names at that time) Bryan Suderman, Charlene and Steve Newton, Naomi Beals, Alex Aguiar, Mary Moreno, Alicia Inglis, Jon Pitman, Amy something (sorry, Amy), Chris Reppard (+) and some others. (Hey guys, remember our trip to Urubichá?) Teachers I well remember and keep in high regard: Mr. Engelhard (he had to travel back to the US for a while because one of his children (twins?) needed heart surgery), Doņa Fátima, Mr. Reppard, and others I don't remember. Anyway, I live in Northern Virginia, near Washington, DC, have been married for 9 years, and have 2 beautiful daughters. I recently spent a week in Cochabamba after almost 9 years. It was great and went by too quickly. If some old friends and acquaintances want to contact me and remember old times, feel free to do so at nedlaz@yahoo.com. It sure would be great!

Colin & Liz Wharton: Greetings all. After a 12 year gap from the time we spent in leadership at Carachipampa it is great to again spend a little time thankfully remembering two great years in our lives and Christian experience. Thanks all for your part in that! Presently Liz is teaching in a multicultural school here in Wellington New Zealand and I am Director of an Adult Community Education programme in Wellington. Andrew (now 25 years) is enjoying Environmental Planning and Miriam has just completed an Honours Degree in History before taking an Administration role with the New Zealand Army. Daniel Frampton: Hi there! It really was a long time ago I studied at CCS. Or that's what I realize when looking at the home page and reading the guestbook. Time just passes so quickly by... If anybody who knows me reads this and wonders what I'm up to, well... I live in Uppsala, Sweden with my wife Sara, and my son William (who is about five months old). I am a manager for a furniture store in Uppsala and am also finishing my bachelors degree in theology. If you want to get in touch with me, plz do so! I would be great to hear from u! Karen (Goldsmith) Howling: It's so great to see so many familiar names - the Pittmans, Billy Oliver, Hansons, John Mattias, Fiona Thompson (Anderson), the Tamplins, Wilcoxs and Hoffers to name a few. Charles and Helen Wilcox were my dorm parents for a year and one of their daughters (whose name escapes me for the moment - sorry! ) was one of my closest friends in the early 70's. Great to hear from Mark Hoffer - although I read your parent's newsletter that they send my parent's, so I can keep up to date with you and your family! I often think of those I knew, and would love to get in touch with anyone who was around during the 70's especially the Weibes (not sure about the spelling!) and Sharon Powlison who was my bestest friend at Carachi! It seems like only yesterday that I was over there, and yet nearly 30 years have passed! I'm now living in England and married with 2 children. I run our church pre-school as well as doing various other jobs around the church. Oh yes, and I no longer have buck teeth - got fed up with being known as 'rabbit features' over here!! I really miss Bolivia, and hope that one day I will get back - but who knows. Whatever, a big piece of my heart will always be in Bolivia.

Beka (Soyars) Thorn: Greetings from New England! I can't believe it's been almost 7 years since I was at CCS! I haven't been back to Bolivia since then but I would love to go to visit; I miss Bolivia and think about it a lot. Since I left Bolivia in '99, I've been through 4 years of high school in Florida and almost 3 years of college - some of which I was at New Tribes Bible Institute in Michigan where I met my husband, Adam. We now live in NH. I am teaching at a Christian school and working on my degree in Early Childhood Education. Who would have thought that I would become a teacher? :) I wouldn't want to do anything else! I dream of being able to teach at CCS, but with the conditions that Bolivia is in right now I know it's a stretch. I would love to hear from alumni & teachers; I miss all of you! :) Beka MrsThorn@gmail.com

Becky Ross: I was very fortunate to come across this site the other day. I have enjoyed looking at the pictures and seeing some faces of people I have not seen in a long time. I reside in Tenneessee these days. My father Raymond Ross lives about 15 minutes from me. I would be interested in getting in touch with Anita Zurita. I know that her last name has changed but do not know what it is. I have written to Tim Johnson at his email that was posted. If it is different than that, would you let me know. Any one who wants to get in touch with me can at rebeross@hotmail.com.
June 15, 2005 8:30PM

Arthur Ross: Dear Helen, What a thrill to see that you've taken over a great work from your parents. Dad is looking forward to talking to your mother. You may not remember Becky and I, but your folks and mine spent alot of years together there on the mission field. You'll have to write and tell me where your brothers are also. I see that Tim Johnson has also written. I expected to see more former MK's to write that had attended from back in the 50's like the Frewings, Cowsills, and others. It is good to contact Bolivia again, and let's try and catch up on all the years that have passed us by. You can begin by telling me about your family and how you felt led to return to Bolivia and to the school. God Bless and we anxiously await your reply. Arthur Ross
June 14, 2005 1:33PM

Arthur Ross: It was great to see a picture of Mrs. McIntosh. She was my dorm mother when I attended the school back in the 50's. My Dad would like to contact her somehow. He is a retired missionary from Cochabama. Please let us know how we can reach Betty.

Charlene (Newton) Daniels: Hello, everyone! I was excited to find this website and travel down memory lane a bit. In fact, it prompted me to pull out my old Condors and smile at those memories as well. I truly loved my years at Carachi ('81-'85, 7th-10th grades) from special times like Field Day, Crazy Day, musicals/plays to opportunities such as Condor staff and Student Council as well as regular classes. Though I've kept up with some classmates (Amy, Erin, Jon P, Sheli, Alicia), I'd love to hear from others such as Naomi Beals (I saw your past post but it didn't have an e-mail address with it), Wendy Calvo, Bobby & Litva Lazaneo, Alex Aguiar, Leon Galindo, Mary Moreno (I did see her a couple of years ago), etc. I'm married with three kids (6, 8, & 10 yrs). Ken and I were members of Wycliffe for eight years and lived in Europe and Africa before settling down here near Dallas, TX. It was fun to visit Carachi in '93 and show my husband where I went to school. Mrs. Steele graciously gave Ken and I a tour. Again, I'd love to hear from anyone who remembers me. You can post here or write to me at charleneATdanielshouseDOTcom.

J. Mark Hoffer: It would be nice to here from other CCS's from the mid 70's. I still attended grade school while it was a boarding school, along with my brother Tim Hoffer. The teacher that I remember the most was Ms. Weembs (5th and 6th grade). None of the new buildings were in place and there was still the old playground area at the front of the property. It has been quite a few years but it is good to see the pictures and relive the memories.

Since then I've studied mathematics and theology at Wheaton College, gotten married, worked in investment banking for a year, and then gone back to school. Currently, I'm doing graduate studies at Princeton Seminary in New Jersey, which is also where my wife's family is from. If my name rings any bells, email me at jesoyars@hotmail.com. I've managed to lose track of just about everyone but would love to hear from you!

I often wonder what happened to many of you, unfortunately in times past it was a little harder to keep in touch than it is now with E-mail. I have been married for 21 years, three children, and I live in the desert land of Arizona. I have been back to Bolivia 5 times since graduating, but don't anticipate returning any time soon as my mom and dad are now retired and live just 3 blocks from me. Wonderful days with many special memories. Will be back for the first time this summer (early July 2004) - I expect a few changes. I am especially anxious to know if my tree house is still there (inherited from Peter Wilcox). Perhaps not!
February 21, 2004 12:56PM

Paul Wilcox: I am wondering if you can give me any info of past students from 1970-1973? I left Carachi in 1973 and I would love to try and track down some past students. My parents, Charles & Helen were actually dorm parents at Carachi during this period. Many thanks. I look forward to your reply.

Christine Johnson: Hello, I used to be a teacher at Carachipampa Christian School in Cochabamba in 1987. I am trying to find my students I taught then, they were in Third Grade. I remember them all with much fondness and still heaps of love. They would be aged around 24-25 yrs old now. I was able to briefly visit and catch up with Abigail Rowden(NZ) and Phillip Weis in 1995 in Cochabamba when I returned to Bolivia this time to teach at Tambo with New Tribes Mission. As I do not know private home addresses, I would be pleased if CCS, or anyone else could help please. This was a very special time in my life, made more so with the commitments of 6 of these third graders to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Saviour during my time there. So, like I did the night before I visited Abi and Philip in 1995, I eagerly and sleeplessly!! await replies from those I love and remember often. Kind regards, Christine (Miss Johnson) Christine Johnson PO Box 6210 Central Queensland Mail Centre 4702 QUEENSLAND AUSTRALIA

November 5, 2003 5:08PM

Fiona (Anderson) Thomson: It has sure brought back some memories to read through the guest book (it makes me feel ancient when reading some of them!) My brother (David Anderson) and I had the distiction of being the last of the boarding students at CCS?! After that we returned to NZ for furloug before returning to Carachipampa in 1980 for 2 years. Since returning to NZ in 1983, many things have happened including my Dad dying of cancer in 1984, my graduating from nursing school in 1992, I had begun training as a chef before God changed my path (slightly!). I married my husband Ken in 1995 and our daughter Elizabeth Jane was born in 1999. I am presently working as nurse in a surgical ward in the main public hospital in Christchurch, New Zealand. John-Paul Folz: Wow, its been a while since I've been in Bolivia, 1988! It's really interesting to scroll down through the messages and see how some people are doing. Hello Seth, Beth,Lila, Ingrid, Jodie...do you remember me? It's also great to see the expansion of the school. After Bolivia, we moved back to Canada...which was different to say the least. I think Carachi does that to you...changes the way in which we look at the world. Carachi is a true community. I went to university in Canada and I now teach outdoor education in Europe as well as Alberta. I would very much appreciate hearing from those I went to school with. I competed all four years at Brown and hope to continue training for many more years. I have really great memories of my short time at Carachipampa. Carol Ann (Morarie) Kelly: Hello Everyone. I attended Carachipampa for all of kdg. - 8th gr. with the exception of my 5th grade year when my parents had a furlough year. My parents are Howard and Maxine Morarie with New Tribes Mission. I have many many fond memories of the years I spent there.....some day I will make it back for a visit! I am now 36, married for 17 years, and have three wonderful daughters: Robbin (16), Bethany (13), and Elise(11). My husband is a pastor at Northern Hills Christian Church in Thornton, CO. I am blessed to work at an organization which enables teenagers to do evangelism work on their school campuses - Dare 2 Share Ministries, Intl. I haven't read too many alumni responses in the guestbook from "back in the day". I was good friends with Diana Galindo, Danny Araujo, Ben Blanco, the Maternes, Ron Wiebe, Jill Lloyd, John Matthias, and so many others. Where are you all? I would love to hear from any of you and find out what you are currently doing in life. :-) I have kept in touch off and on with Diana and Ron.....but the rest of you????? Mr. Robinson was principal for many of the years I attended Carachi....any idea how to contact the Robinsons, anyone? Well, I am thankful for the many staff who pour their hearts into the lives of the students who pass through Carachipampa. Ms. Grey, Ms. Helmut, Mrs. Scholefield, the Reppards, the Robinsons, Aunt Ruby, and many others influenced my life and helped shape my walk with God. THANK YOU! You all do make a difference. I hope to hear from some old timers! If anyone ever is passing through the Denver, Colorado area, please call! 303-457-4763. Living in God's grace, Carol Ann

Maribeth Tramel Jacobson: Hi! I did my student teaching at CCS from Jan. - April 1993. I taught with Miss Kennedy in first grade. What a wondeful school! I would like to know how many of the students I taught in forst grade in 1993 are still at CCS. I would also like Esther Kennedy's address in Ireland if anyone could email it to me. I keep a picture I took while in Bolivia by my kitchen sink so I will be reminded to pray for CCS and Bolivia daily. I truly enjoyed my time there.
