Theresa (Teri) Mitchell: Jane, I just looked at all your beautiful creations. They make me want to start knitting again (I haven't knitted in 20 years.) Your fashions are just as spectacular as the sweaters you use to knit and wear while we were going to M.J. Whalen and Hamden High. Back then your sweaters had inspired me to take up knitting . If I do start to knit again I certainly will order something from you. Teri

Pat Gottal: Jane, I was at Stitches East and was taken aback by the stunning shaw you were wearing to one of the fashion shows. I believe it was the garter stitch demi shaw (which I bought). The fibers and colors you used made it truly an elegant piece. I have shared your website with all of my friends, knitters and non-knitters alike.
October 13, 2004 8:41AM
Laurie: Great designs if you happen to be 38-42" in the chest. I'm 48-49, so most of my garments need to be about 51-52 when finished and blocked. Oh well.

Annie: Jane, your designs are truely unique; a real pleasure for a knitter who gets bored with mundane patterns. As one who doesn't waste time knitting something I can purchase in a catalog or store (icelandic sweaters; ribbed funnel neck sweaters; cabled anything; mittens; socks; etc., etc.), your patterns are just what I've been craving to add to my growing multi-directional, multi-structural design collection. I enjoy donating unique, one-of-a-kind pieces of 'wearable art' to fund-raising events; always a huge draw. Thank you for your talent, Jane!

dorothy: Jane,
It is 6:15 in the morning and I came into work early (very) at (5), we dont open until 8:30. I called my girlfriend who is a early riser and knitter. Your knitting is awesome! You design and knit like I dream!
Just wanted to tell you that, most of the time I don't care for anyones designs or color combinations other than my own. My color combinations are good, however I dont feel comfortable taking what I visualize to fruition.
I will be buying some patterns from you very soon!
(Promised myself I would finish at least 5 unfinished projects before I bought any yarn)
However Patterns really don't count do they!
Sorry so Chatty!
Feel honored, I have never even written a fan letter to David Cassidy. This is my first.
Regards,
Dorothy

When I am ready for a new project, I will come back to you with an order. Now that the outdoor soccer season is over, maybe I will be able to find the time. I really enjoyed meeting you at my son's travel game, knitting with you and hearing all about your great business. Good luck with everything. True lovers of knitting will be addicted to these designs.

Sandy: *sigh* I am head over heels in love with these designs. The patterns are fascinating AND fit various sizes.
The A-line skirts are very attractive to me. I'm not a tube shape and have long wished for a pattern that wasn't a knit tube.
This is a great option!

Seeing all your patterns last night in your catalog and now seeing them on the Web is motivating me to finish the Jane sweaters I've started.
See you soon.

Jane: Hi, Everyone!
Thanks to all of you for taking the time to sign my guestbook!
To answer some FAQ's: Ordering information is on the first page of album one. When ordering, please be sure to indicate size when specified, and add shipping and handling charges.
Certain sweaters (The Snowdrop, The Painted Trillium, The Diamond Princess) can be sized up more easily than others, and some (La Mariposa, The Geometrical Fugue Jackets) are designed to fit virtually all sizes and shapes. The diagonal designs (Trillium, Diamond Princess) are available in 2 sizes (2 different books), and can be further sized up and down by changing gauge with needle size, weight of yarn, or both. You can get some very helpful advice from the Knitlisters and KnitU - the members are always happy to share experiences. Also, please feel free to email me at jeme@juno.com with any questions you may have regarding my designs, and keep knitting!
June 10, 2002 6:09PM

Lynn P: Wonderful new site--and so good to be able to find you! As soon as I have "available" $$$, I'm ordering the Trymple, the Trillium Tam, and several more wonderful items. Do you make provisions/offer suggestions in the patterns about up-sizing for those of us who are more ample than we used to be? Have people had any success with using 4 or 4.5 stitches per inch to achieve the same result? In any case, you'll be hearing from me again!
May 26, 2002 12:00AM
Carol W: GREAT new site, and great new patterns (great 'old' ones too!) I'm about to embark upon making The Snowdrop sweater.
May 19, 2002 2:55PM
NANCY: Your garments are gorgeous. I'm so happy to find pictures of all at Photopoint.
May 17, 2002 6:12PM
Susan Nobleman: I can't say enough about how wonderful it is to knit a "kjpjk" design. I was at beginner status when I did the Sandpainting Vest. That led to my next project which was the mitered shawl. A few times I had questions, but Ms. Elliot also gave me a rapid e-mail response. I am now in the process of knitting The Trillium and can't wait to pick up my needles each night. Thank you Jane for your innovative designs and wonderfully user-friendly patterns.
May 10, 2002 4:42PM
Jane: To Katie - I'm so glad to see a young person here!! I've tried to make my designs appeal to all age groups, and it's so important to keep this wonderful craft alive by passing our skills on to new people, especially young people. I have 5 children, and they all know how to knit (even the boys!!) I'm very excited that you're teaching a friend. This can be a bonding experience you both will remember for a lifetime. Did you know that many colleges have knitting guilds? When you go off to school, perhaps you can join one - or even start one! In any event, keep knitting!
P.S. - If you enjoyed "Rosebud's Request", I'm sure you'll love the camisole in the "Camisoles and Skirts" pattern in Album One, and the new "Pansies" sweaters which you'll be able to see soon!!
May 9, 2002 3:14PM
Jane: To Marylou and anyone else new to Not Just Plain Jane Knits:
Thanks so much for taking the time to view my site and sign my guest book.
I've taken a lot of pains to make my patterns decipherable by almost any knitter who is familiar with the "basics" - k;p; inc; dec; YO; slip, knit and pass; etc. Everything - and I do mean everything - is spelled out so that the knitter can be successful, because I want to do more than just sell the patterns - I want to give people the wonderful sense of satisfaction that seasoned knitters enjoy when people notice their work.
The diagonal patterns, although very intricate-looking, are really not difficult in the knitting sense of the word; designing them was another story!! If you just follow the directions to the letter, and begin with a sweater in just one color, you'll be OK.
Stay tuned for new photos and designs - I promise I won't make you wait 2 years this time!!
May 9, 2002 3:08PM
Katie: my name is katie and I'm 17. I have just handcrafted a "Rosebud's Request". I am only 17 years old, an dI found the directions to be wonderful...considering I am an adolescent and tend to have trouble with directions. But Jane's directions are so clear. I do not have to really interpret them and it was just so fun. Now, all my friends want me to knit them sweaters...hehe they do not understand all of the elbow grease that we knitters have to go through. I am teaching a close friend of mine, however, and she loves it. She is a beginner, and she is having a great time with Jane's patterns. She is making one of the beannie baby sweaters because she is not yet ready for a big sweater. Through working with the beannie baby book, I figured that the beannie book would make a good learning beginner-type thing, almost like a textbook. It teaches similar skills which are in the regular sweaters, but it's a smaller project. Plus, since she is a new knitter i want to make sure that she sticks with it. I know that with the afgan that I just made, it was tough to stay with it for so long. But i did it and now I'm working on my Rosebud! Yay! Thanks Jane I love ya! ...hehe by the way, if there are any other teenagers out there who knit, feel free to e-mail me. or talk to me on AOL instant messenger! My s/n is lifeguardbabe84 and my e-mail is americaneaglechik@hotmail.com
