Marilyn Liechty Harris: Hi Ellen! I*'ve wanted to meet you for years--have heard so much about you, the progress of your outstanding business, etc., but, time and circustance seem always to have prevented. (I'm Phil's sister, as you probably know..). I've spent more time in Ohio the past year than in Virginia, where I live with my own husband, Don (and, currently, one of our sons--who moved back this spring at age 28, to save money for an engagement ring and downpayment on a house with his fiancee-to-be!) Anyway, Philip, in between one of his many recent trips moving back here, noticed me kntting away every chance I got in the evenings here, and made some comment about you and your shop, etc. I had forgotten, but, once this past year, taking Mom on a drive, we ventured over your way and drove downtown to where I thought your shop was. But, unfortunately, it was on one of your closed afternoons! Anyway, one of these times I will try to come over, as I'd love to see the yarns, and to ask you if you know about the prayer shawl ministry that many women (well, mostly women, so far as I know!) have in their churches. This is how I, recently, began doing what I vowed I would never try again in my life--having knit two pretty sad looking left handed mittens at a very early age, after several "washcloths." :) (I love creative things, used to sew a lot years ago, but am much more given to floral arranging, writing, music, etc.) BUT, this past year, on one of my few and short trips back to Virginia, a dear friend from my church (who was the primary link to my particular cell of our church prayer chain for a long timne) caught me at church, asking if I'd be home that evening. She came by, opened a big bag and pulled out the loveliest, soft shawl, explaining that she had knit it for me, with many prayers "knit" into it--a prayer shawl, as she knew I had really been going through a very difficult year with Mom and things here in Ohio, etc., and she knew my longtime special sense of calling to prayer ministry (I "sort of" coordinate and try to encourage prayer and prayer ministries in our church...but the past two years have really been challenges in my keeping up with much of that). Anyway, it was such an overwhelming blessing, and I encouraged Sallie (my friend) to begin a shawl ministry at our church--her sister-in-law, married to a pastor in North Carolina, had knit Sallie one, and told her all about their prayer shawl ministry. So, Sallie did! Of course, I determined I would learn at least to knit this very,v ery basic shawl, by God's grace, that's for sure!, just so that I could do for others what Sallie did for me. I am a rank amateur, but, this trip, was able to bring back my first one, for Mom. Our group prayed over it, and blessed it just the night before I came back, so I was really pleased. Mom really likes it, but often forgets the particulars about it these days, so I remind her that it is to remind her that she is continually wrapped in God's love, prayed for continually by me and many.wondered if you know about this? The website, which i visited, indicates way too much "New Age-y" stuff--which I alerted Sallie and the group, but, we sort of adapted our own blessing letter/certificate, and just have gone from there. We meet every two weeks to knit (some crochet),share, and bless the shawls anyone has finished. I'm presently working on one for another dear praying friend back there, and for one for our World Vision girl, who is now a young teen-ager in Brazil (we've sponsored her since she was about five...). Anyway, now , if I could just figure out how to get myself out of knitting messes, when I am out here, away from the group! Now, I know who to ask and where to go! Hope to meet you sometime! Blessings to you, Marilyn L. Harris

Iva Jeane (NMN) Driggers: I'm interested in ording Lorna Laces by mail. I do not like the striped effect that is popular right now. WWII all the poor kids had to wear t-shirts that had that striped effect. It means poor to me - regardless of the the price. Thanks

Joan M. Doner: Hi Ellen, I'm going to do my best to be at the sock fest in the store Monday. Seems like it has snowed every Monday for the past month and driving Rte. 24 in good weather is hazardous enough! I love the web site and all the photos. Provides great inspiration. Joan, McClure OH

Gail Rice: Dear Ellen, The new Opal colorways are awesome. I have been knitting since last January but just started into socks in October. I just purchased 4 differant Opal yarns while on vacation in Las Vegas. My LYS does not carry Opal yarn; in fact it is not easy to find it in my area (I found 1 store 25 miles north of where I live)and I live in Metro Detroit. I have inquired at my LYS the Crafty Lady but not sure if she will carry it. She does carry Regia brand and the Lorna Laces and some others though. I do plan on ordering some of the new ones as soon as decide which ones. I hope to get down to Ohio and visit your store in the near future. Gail Rice Roseville, Michigan
