Nancy Miller,#2106 and 9505,OSCI: Loved your photos...lots of inspiration there. One ?--on your birdfeeder, how did you adhere the upsidedown pot to the saucer? In the book she talks about little blocks of wood glued, but the birdseed would then get under the pot, right? I could use a pointer from someone who has done this project as Chris and I want to use this project in August or September. Thanks for any suggestions and thanks for your sharing your work. NM

Rhonda Blackmon: Debbie,
I'm back! I've selected you as my mentor. I hope you don't mind. I wrote to you about a month ago talking about having my first class at church. Well that class was a success! I loved it and most important - so did the students! I feel like I've found my life's calling. Too bad my real job is not even half as pleasant! I need some advice. I was asked by a smaller Arts and Crafts store to instruct One Stroke classes. I will have my first "paying" class on Wednesday night. I did a demo today, but I've never seen one actually done. I just painted and talked with the people who stopped to look. Is that enough? In fact, Wednesday nights will be the night assigned to me. What pointers can you give me so that I will be a dynamic teacher? What helpful "lessons learned" can you give a brand new instructor? What about doing effective demos?
March 7, 2004 3:01PM
Patti Gray: Hi,
I just finished looking at your painting job at Perkins, it is beautiful! (So is all your other stuff). I'm especially impressed that you were able to work that high up and still do such a great job.
March 6, 2004 7:59AM
Rhonda Blackmon: I'm a new OSCI in Florida and was just wandering through the different - more experienced instructors web sites. Your pictures of your students work is wonderful! I know they must love you for that! I'm originally from Columbia, SC so I was curious as to the number of OSCIs in S.C. I hope to one day have a web site and lots of students. It's really hard getting started, but I have my first class scheduled with my church group on Feb 28. I'm really nervous, but confident I can teach them basic strokes. It's really exciting. I am an Army vet working for the Dept of Defense Finance and Accounting Service here in Orlando. I needed something to take me away from all the stress so I got involved with Donna's one stroke painting. I was fortunate enough to have her as our instructor at certification here in Orlando. That was great. Hopefully and prayerfully - one day - I will be a great instructor too! Thanks for your encouraging web site!

penniesfromheaven48: Beautiful work. I have been sitting here forever looking at your albums. I hope to someday be able to paint as well.......I am somewhat new to the one stroke technique. I wonder if you would share with me some info on a couple of your items. I just love the chalk boards, the wine caddys that hold the wine glasses and sit arount the neck of the wine bottle & the wine glasses with the lamp shades. Can you tell me if you purchase the pieces for the wine bottle and wine glass caddy? I assume them to be made of wood - not sure. Can they be purchased from a supplier or do you make/ cut them yourself? I would be interested in both sizes. The one for two glasses as well as the one for four. This is a great idea and I would love to try my luck. Also, the wine glass with the lamp shade - I assume these to be for tea lights- not sure. What do you use for the shade for these? I would appreciate any help and again I admire your work. If you don't mind sharing, my email address is as follows:

Your grandson's bed is as cute as can be. And did you paint your apron too? Very nice. You are very lucky to have your hubby helping you. Means a lot in painting jobs. Jan
