shady sadie: I've just finished my second wicker baby cradle. Yours are beautiful. Very similar to mine. I use a rectangular base and put them on rockers (kindly made by my husband) and the hoods come more to the front. I would really enjoy an e-mail correspondence if you have any time. I work FT as an RN as well as weave so I know how that is.

lloyd Williams: Cathryn the diamond Willow is entirely new to me.
Interesting but preparation appears labor intensive.
Then good things allways require an extra effort.
Guard your Chair Seating Techniques book for www.alibris.com wants $164.93 for their one copy.
They do have George Sterns for only$52.94
Forum is coming to life and this craftsman gives you credit.
Slide show about Willow interesting.

Joe Walker: Our Wakefield dinning chairs have raised 2 kids, 2 grands, several dogs, cats and other critters as well as moved no less than 17 times to a lot of places between Georgia and Washington. As you would guess the chairs need re-caning and I am retired and ready to do the job but have no idea where to start.
Thanks for a great web page and just maybe you can reccomend a starting point for me.
Thanks

Alison (Northern Ireland): Your website is wonderful. I am currently studying Web Page design and would love to know how yours was created. I have been attending an Antiques Restoration class for years and have just learnt the 7-step method of caning. I don't know how anyone could make a living at it as it is so time consuming but very satisfying when you see the finished product. Your work is stunning. Any chance of visiting our side of the pond???

Jan: Hi, I was just looking for info re: wicker when I came to your site and saw the Lab puppy pics...well, being a Lab lover, it was very easy to take a detour to see your pups! Molly is beautiful and the puppies are darling! They grew so much in one month...wow thanks for posting!!! I looked thru them twice with a big smile on my face! I will email you soon with my question(s). Thanks! Jan PS Wish I was there to rub their puppy bellies and smell their puppy breath!!! (Only dog and puppy lovers will get this...to others, I know it sounds weird!)

Janie Paulin: Dear Cathryn, I have emailed you quite awhile ago and asked if you would have a pattern for the"antler basket" with the entire skull. I have two and I have tried to line-up the holes for drilling and I just wondered if you had any suggestions. The drilling would be most critical and I don't want to mess it up. I have a picture of one of yours and that does help but a pattern or instructions would be great. Janie

Terry Waller: Saw your article in the Finishing & Restoration magazine and had to check out the site. I currently do all types of wicker and cane restoration so am always looking for sources and information. Seems the wicker/cane business seems to go in spurts. I may not do any for three or four months, and then wind up with twenty or thirty pieces in a month.

Betsey Sloan: Cathryn, I've seen your correspondence re: antlers for the NCBA. I've spoken with director of the Division of Wildlife in NC as well as one of their gamewardens. Mule deer are okay to use, not whitetail or any part thereof. I do have their permission to bring in an antler (whitetail)for demonstration purposes. Guess I spoke to different people than you did. Please contact me direct if you have any further concerns. Betsey Sloan
