Carolyn Thomas: Hi Nick: If your father's name is Leland Hilligoss. I am your third cousin. My mother was Helen Louise (Hudson) Alston. She talked about Leland a lot. She seemed to remember him fondly. I know that he moved to Tazmania to be near his son Nick. So I think I've found you. Carolyn Alston Thomas

Deborah Rogers: Greetings, Nick- I am thinking that you are my cousin- son of Leland Hilligoss, nephew of my (late) mother, Alta Marie Hilligoss. If this is who you are, please be in touch. You spent several summers with us on Long Island, and we visited you in St.Louis and saw your very early film work. It has been a very long time- please e-mail back. Debe Rogers

Leon van de graaff: Hi Nick, Leon here, Paul Howell's friend. Thank you so much for our conversation on Sunday at ACMI. It was very helpful and interesting, and your work is fabulous! The short animated films with life-size, found-object characters that Paul Livingston voiced one of were made by John E Hughes. Do you know of him? The animation is rather crude but the concepts are brilliant, a real transition between Dada-surrealist sculpture and animation. I will happily send you a copy of them, if you like. Thanks again for your time and enthusiasm. Leon

Ron Cole: I was about half way through animating a short film in which a wizard puppeteers a marionette (in the fall of gravity) when I found Stopmoshorts.com. The first film I watched was Nicks' 'L'Animateur' and all I could think was, "Oh no." We had chosen to shoot very similar subjects and Nicks' animation is nothing short of AMAZING!! I've gotten to know him a little since then and have found his personal charm to be such, that I am honored to work in his shadow. Good luck with getting your new workspace built, I can't wait to see more work from you. Cheers! a.k.a. Myserious Ron

Chris McDonnell: Hi, We've spoken before on matters of digital capture. I'm running an animation workshop for students at the Ferens Art Gallery in Hull, UK. You and your viewers can keep an eye on what we're doing at this blogg: http://animationattheferens.blogspot.com/ Hope you don't mind me putting this on, I just thought it's always good to promote animation however possible. Cheers, Chris McDonnell

Chris McDonnell: Hi Nick, I know you are a very busy man so I'll keep it short... Do you shoot in ones to get the great fluidity in your amazing animations?? Also, I'm experimenting with digital still capture for stop motion. At the mo' i'm importing into flash and then exporting as quick time which goes into AVID for final production work. Please can you tell me what software you put your D70 files into to give you such good quality? Many thanks and I look forward to seeing your latest piece. Chris Mc

Edvin: Hi Nic! I've seen some of your movies at Swedish television last month! (directly after Baby Blues, perfect!) Really nice work you've done there! I'm doing some clay animation, but hasn't tried any serious stuff yet since I don't have a decent camera for this purpose (there's a lack of movie ideas too). I have some puppets (and low-tech/low-qual/low-everything movies) at my webpage: http://www.edvin.nu/clayed

Amy: Hi Nick, Thankyou co much for your step-by-step tutorial! I am so happy to find someone with experience in making effective, yet INEXPENSIVE armatures. Iīve been looking all over the web, and have only been able to find tutorials in making those expensive ball and sockett armatures, which I canīt afford. Your tutorial has been incredibly helpful! And your work is great! Thankyou so much! - Amy - ahorniak@hotmail.com

Strider: G'day, Mate! I left a message on the SMA board for you, but it's a pretty inconspicuous one in an old topic, so I'll reiterate here.... A thousand times thank you for the Foam Latex tutorial, the most informative I've seen on the subject! And the shot for the beginning of Good Riddance (I think) possibly even rivals the similar shot from Pinnoccio. Kudos! Mike Brent

I have been looking for a way to apply this kind of fur for a long time. if you could email me back as soon as you get a chance, i would appreciate it. once again, i really enjoyed your site. thank you for all of the information! -Taylor Umphenour

StopMoDan: You are very prolific all-around artist, Nick. I wish we could practice in the States what you're doing 'down under'....in the States we seem to be suffocating in only, CG demand by CG....I may want to move to Australia.
