donnalee: Nancy: I am a new beader and have been perusing websites/books for these past few months. I came across your site last night and was in awe. I have never seen such intricate and fantastic pieces. So awesome that it makes me want to put down this, my very first hobby (I am 48). I cannot cope with seed beads (e-beads are my smallest) and I have a need for almost instant gratification. I brushed myself off a bit this am. In addition, have found a pattern for a 2-strand bracelet that I am quite sure I can pull off and am about to start. It will be my first project that goes beyond single strand. I’ve made approx. 30 single stranders - necklaces and bracelets and have been at this for about 3 months. Am I 'behind schedule'? The favorites i have been working with are swarvoski crystals, hematite, the man-made 'gems'? like jade, rose quartz, etc. all glass, no plastic to speak of. Any encouragement Nancy? I would surely appreciate it. AND, what a hoot re: the kilt guys. That is hysterical!
One more thing. The necklace you are wearing in your Halloween photos looks like my very first project - same length, for me they were called 'marble' beads - multi-colored - they went with a sweater I have. One thing I like about the habit/hobby is that when you get dressed in the am, and you want too change your look, you can! Nice talking 'at' you Nancy.

shirley jackson: I viewed your work and you are very good. But, the colors you used in the fossil coral piece absolutely does nothing to enhance your beautiful work. The colors remind me of something old and withered, something I would find in my grandmothers basement or attic. Try using some livlier colors because your work is really wonderful.
