If I Had to Die for Someone

Mohair, spun on a drop spindle and knitted with 2.5 needles.
It is of course based on the most absurd line "It seems to me I'm much to old to wear a scarf out in the cold..." In what mythical world does someone no longer need to keep warm as they age? would this be due to middle aged weight gain?
