Album: St. Martin - The Friendly Island

Turquiose sea, white sand, coconuts and 37 beaches (that's one beach for every square mile of the island). The beauty and warmth -- of the weather and the people -- casts a magic spell. There are more than 70 different nationalities (mainly French, English, Dutch, Spanish and Creole) living together in unified diversity. This is the smallest piece of land shared by two countries. For more than 300 years France and the Netherlands have shared the island known as both Saint Martin (commune of Guadeloupe and the Netherlands Antilles) and Sint Maarten (automous colony of the Netherlands.) St. Martin is well known for its beaches and its fine dining and has one of the highest rates of repeat visitors in the Caribbean.
