For our first major excursion we drove north to Ronda. Driving on a single lane highway up into the mountains along the cliffs was at once exhilarating and terrifying. Ronda is a town which stands over a ravine with access from three bridges that date back to different time periods. The Quadalevin River runs through the town (at the bottom of the precipice) and divides the town into two parts, each with buildings and monuments. This picture is of the Puente Nuevo (New Bridge). It is actually an aqueduct, 98 meters high, with foundation laid at the bottom of the Ravine. The view is breathtaking in all directions.
