Another Van Gogh inspired piece. Cypresses featured more and more frequently in Van Gogh's last paintings and fascinated him, though at first he found them difficult to paint. It is known that in corrospondence with his brother in 1889 he said that the cypresses were always occupying his thoughts...'It astonishes me that they have not yet been done as I see them....a splash of black in a sunny landscape, but it is one of the most interesting black notes and the most difficult to hit off exactly.' I found the movement in the brushstrockes of this piece a challange to stitch and an enjoyable way of experiencing the artists work more closely. Measures a tiny 35mm x 32mm and has been set in a 24th scale frame. SOLD
