My newest gown, made of green dupioni silk, from the same cotehardie pattern as several of my previous gowns, but with full, long, split sleeves. The sleeves fall from the shoulder to my ankles, and are pleated at the shoulder and lined with black silk. The longer and more sumptuous the sleeve, the more well-off the wearer of the gown. If you wanted to show off in the medieval period, you wore excessive fabric anywhere you could!
