Album: Beloved Prezy - Straight Spanish Mare

As far as Arabians go, Prezy is not beautiful. As far as wonderful ponies go, she is worth her weight in gold.

When we first brought Prezy home in 2003, she was 150 pounds underweight. At only 13.3 hands, she looked like a hatrack. Our vet gave her a 2.5 on the 1-8 fitness scale. That was 3 weeks after she had been here. Prezy was only 12, but she looked 25. She has compressed vertebrae in her back that will never be recovered. This was a result of an owner putting a full sized QH stock saddle on her, then riding with too-heavy of a rider. We don't know when her teeth had been attended to last, but she suffers from problems and has had her teeth floated 4 times in the past 11 months. It seemed that every single person who had owned her tried to breed her. Poor thing had stallions jumping on her at every turn. No one bothered to find out that she was sterile; Prezy has a tipped pelvis and only one ovary. When we first got Prezy, she had many fear from mis-use. It took us many months, but we finally made progress. Now she is the most beloved pony of my daughter, who just turned 4. Because of her back injury, Prezy will never be able to hold herself in a proper "show frame". She will never be able to canter with someone on her. Backing is difficult for her. But to Bridget, Prezy is "the most beautifullest pony in the world".
