I came down to the barn one day in June 2007, and there she was. She saw me, wagged her tail, slunk up to me, buried her head in my lap, and poured out her tale of woe. I was almost crying myself holding her and telling her, "It will be o.k. You're safe now. It will never be that bad again." She followed me to the grooming stall, lay down on the bed I made for her, and went to sleep.
