Balto

This statue of Balto stands in Central Park. You may have seen or heard of the movies. The first one is based on the true story of a team of dogs that traveled from Nome, Alaska to Nenana and back again to carry diphtheria medicine to the dying children in Nome. The Iditarod dog race is run today over the route that they ran.
