Album: St Croix - Voyage here in early December and Xmas 2008
Sailed north from Isla Margarita, Venezuela departing on December 4, 2008 early morning. The forecast called for NE-E winds 15 and we experienced that plus big NE swells that slammed the boat around repeatedly. 2 days and 2 nights of this had us exhausted. Squalls kept rolling over us the 2nd day as well.
The 3rd day dawned clear and bright... the wind clocked into ENE at 10-15 and Salacia shined on doing very well as the swells dropped to mild levels. It was a textbook perfect day of sailing. Day 4 with arrival in St Croix about noon, we raced home doing 7+ knots with staysail and the main with 1 reef in it. 415 nautical miles and nothing major broke and we move forward to sell the boat!
