Album: Lynn Bogue Hunt

Lynn Bogue Hunt (1878-1960). Hunt was born in Honeoye Falls, N.Y., but when 12 moved to Albion, N.Y. graduating from Albion High School in 1897. He then studied under Franklin C. Courter for two years at Albion College. By 1898 he was contributed sketches for several newspapers. Hunt left college to draw for Gale Manufacturing Company, and then for Fulton Engine and Iron Works of Detroit. He began a three year stint as a sketch artist for the Detroit Free Press in 1899, then moved to New York. He joined the staff of Field and Stream in the 20s and eventually became the magazine's Staff Artist drawing more than 100 covers and numerous illustrations for articles. He also provided sporting art for Peters, Ithaca, Western Ammunition, US Cartridge Co., Remington, and Dupont advertisements.

His works appeared in Outers' Recreation, Saturday Evening Post, Colliers, Better Homes and Gardens, Natural History, Boy's Life, Woman's Home Companion, Country Gentleman, American Boy, Rotarian, Elks Magazine, and others. He illustrated more than 50 books in his lifetime including 'Gun Dogs Afield' by Horace Lytle, 'Upland Game Shooting' by Henry Lewis Betten, 'Shotgunning in the Uplands' by Ray P. Holland, and Burton Spiller's 'Grouse Feathers' (1934), 'Firelight' (1936), and 'More Grouse Feathers' (1938). "November 12, 1931. Credit Lynn Hunt, Bronx, NY.
