SeatWeavers' Guild, Established July 14, 2007

The first gathering of chair seat weavers from North America
to form a chair caning guild.

One day on the Seatweaving, Chair Caning & Wicker Repair Forum Mindy King, seatweaving expert from Ohio, remarked that she thought it would be a good idea to form a group of chair seat weavers here in North America. Maybe something similar to the Basketmakers' & Chair Seat Weavers' Association in England and similar to our basketweaving guilds.

Soon one thing lead to another and the first gathering and organizing meeting of The SeatWeavers' Guild took place on July 13-15, 2007 at Robbins Crossing, a recreation 1850s village on the grounds of Hocking College in Nelsonville, Ohio.

A date was set to meet in Nelsonville, Ohio for July 14, 15 & 16, 2007. Folks from the Forum met each other and shared tips and hints. Then the official name was chosen, (The SeatWeavers' Guild), by-laws were established, officers were elected, committees were named, demonstrations were given to the train passengers at Robbins Crossing and the first annual workshop/convention was planned for July 18, 19, 20, 2008, again to be held at Robbins Crossing.

A website is to be started soon, but for now you can stay up to date by visiting the Seatweaving, Chair Caning & Wicker Repair Forum at
