Album: 2008 Wheatens On Parade

Welcome to the 6th Annual Wheatens on Parade contest!

All of these wonderful dogs and friends of Wheatens have submitted their photos with the hope that they will be voted Grand Marshall of the Parade for 2008.

This year, we are continuing the two new features we added to the parade last year!

1. We'll be voting for a Grand Marshall, and the second highest vote getter of the Opposite Sex will be the Consort.

2. We've assembled a team of impartial judges to pick the winners of 4 new categories:
Best Slogan
Best Costume
Best Puppy Photo
& Funniest Photo.

The Grand Marshall, Consort and each of the category winners will receive prizes!

This contest is held each March. Wheatens on Parade is a fundraiser for Wheatens in Need, a 501(c)3 (non-profit) organization dedicated to rehoming unwanted Wheatens. The funds raised from this annual event make it possible for Wheatens in Need to continue to help these poor creatures, many of whom come into rescue with medical needs.

Winner! Grand Marshall Danny Boy - WIN Boy

Life is good when the stress is gone!

The reason we believe Danny Boy should be the grand marshall of the parade is because he is, with the help of his new family as his spokes persons, helping to spread the word and educate people about the importance and the joy of giving a rescue dog a home. Even the boundaries between countries is not a barrier to making this happen. Wherever we go, people are interested in our story and they listen intently and go away with smiles on their faces and something important to think about. He also represents the principle of never giving up hope no matter how bad the odds seem to be. Even at the 11th hour, something good can happen. Read Danny Boy's rescue story here.
