Proper Post Tie

Pictured here, is the propter way a chain link tie should be installed on a post. Notice that there is no excessive gapping between the tie and the post. It is as if the tie is giving the post a tight hug.

I have found over the years that there is less a problem when one is talking about improperly tied posts. That is mainly due to the fact that the tie rarely if ever is tied to the same diamond due to the fact of the way the post lines up to the fabric vertically and because rails are generally 1-5/8" or less (which fit nicely within a diamond, unlike say a 4" post). You still however, do want your tie to look like the one pictured below and not contain excessive gapping or run to tie off on an excessive angle.

When I come across one that has been done woefully wrong and I happen to have my faithful camera companion along, I'll snap a few pictures and pass 'em along.
