Another Rail Tie Method

This method is one that seemed to be popular years back, more so in some regions of the country than others. Certainly not an improper way to tie, as it attains the goal of keeping the ties tight to the rails, but it is a difficult method to use and ultimately, not as neat looking (in my own humble opinion). If not properly installed the hook portion if the tie is exposed and easily un-hooked. The other issues I have seen with this method is that most who attempt it do not consistently wrap the tie throughout the job (basically leaving the job sloppy looking).

Here, the job done is not bad, but the issue of consistent wrapping did apply to this job as well as having many of the ties with the hook exposed.
