Making a splice in the rush

When you come to the end of the strand of rush, make sure it ends within the center pocket on either the front, back, left side or right side. This way the splice can be hidden inside the pocket that's created at those spots. Unravel end of old paper, coat with Carpenter's yellow glue, insert new strand into it and twist back in normal direction.
