Wallis Knob or Wallace Knob?

The postcard says "Wallis," but the street sign in Mountain Home says "Wallace." I understand that at one time this land belonged to a man named "Wallis," but the location has been misspelled as "Wallace" for many years. (This is an early black and white photochrome, rather than a real photo postcard -- but it just seems to fit into this group really well.)
