Album: Student work - workshops available

You too can make beautiful and unique hand felted hats. In this album, you may view the work of several students. Can you tell the work of the milliner, from the work of her students? These craftsmen produced wonderful results right from the beginning. Very gifted artisans.

Workshops are available. The recommended length of time for a workshop is about 10 hours. If you want me at your guild or art center, here's what you need to know. You must have a source of very hot and cold running water. It is a wet process. You will stand most of the first day (6 hours). If you cannot tolerate very hot water, you need dishwashing gloves. On the first day, you will produce 1 or 2 handfelted hoods or capelines, which you may get shaped into a hat.

The second day to the workshop is for for shaping, sewing, blocking and lining hats. My fee, $500.00 for day 1 and $300 for the second day (day 2 is a 4 hour day and the discount applies if the 2 days are consecutive). On the second day, we will need several electrical outlets and ironing boards. The maximum # of participants in a workshop is 6. The workshop may not be audited. All persons present, pay full price.

Bucket type broad brim

This deep crown hat has a nice broad brim and would be a very nice hat. It is made of a beautiful purple merino, with swirls of lavender and maroon accents. Nice Job to this emerging milliner! Kudos Dawn!
