Album: 2006 Vacations - Rocky Point Mexico, Colorado Rafting and Fishing on Gunnison River, Durango Family vacation
We spent two days in Durango. The first day we took the Durango Silverton Railroad which was an all day train ride and a hoot. We saw miles of countryside between Durango and Silverton. The second day we went to Trimble Hot Springs and soaked. Trimble has a big pool everyone, and lots of little hot pools, that get hotter or cooler, depending on your preference. That afternoon, we went to nearby Mancos Colorado for an old-fashioned western Stagecoach Ride with the Bartels Mancos Valley Stageline. Apparently, this is the only thing of its kind in the country (where they rig up 4 horses to a big old stagecoach and take you out on the trail for a ride) and my whole family was extremely impressed. We took the dinner cruise which included a pretty awesome dinner, at a lodge that is great for the whole family. I definitely recommend you try the stagecoach. Durango StageCoach Ride
Dvorak Expeditions was the company we used, for the third year in row, for our three day flyfishing and rafting trip on the Gunnison River, in the Gunnison Gorge of the Black Canyon. Dvorak Expeditions led a great fly fishing trip, as always - we go in early June during Gunnison's famous Salmon Fly hatch. Each year we have caught that hatch on at least one of out three days of fishing. If the Salmon fly isn't presence there are many of other dry-fly fishing opportunities for Caddie especially, but many other Stone Flies as well.
The Princessa Resort is located in Puerto Penasco Mexico, which is popularly known as Rocky Point Visit Rocky Point as well. The resort is located on a beautiful Beach and had many little pools and green spaces. No resort is better to have your kids run around the grounds in Puerto Penasco. We Rented through Rocky Point Rentals and they took great care of us. We went during a weekday in the end of April, and there really weren't many people around. We took a plane ride, which was when we took this photo.
