Where Austria Meets Hungary
We took an interesting day trip to Burgenland, an Austrian province with a strong Hungarian influence. Burgenland was transferred from Hungary to Austria following the First World War, because of its predominantly German speaking population. The interesting cultural blend affects everything from food to architechture. For me, one memorable aspect of the day was that my necklace of coral beads suddenly broke. Andrew was able to save all of the tiny beads, but I had to go without them for the rest of the trip. Upon our return home, I pestered Andrew until he re-strung them for me, and they are now back where they belong.
