Il Campo (Siena, Italy)
Siena's great central piazza is located at the historic junction of various competing districts, or contrada, on the old marketplace. On July 2 and August 16 ten of the 17 contrada (neighborhoods) compete in the Palio-a world-famous horse race around the square.
