San Fermin and La Dolce Vita

"At noon of Sunday, the 6th of July, the fiesta exploded. There is no other way to describe it." Ernest Hemingway's account of San Fermin in Pamplona, Spain - the festival he popularized in his book, "The Sun Also Rises."

On July 2002 I journeyed to Europe for the third time to be a participant (hopefully not a victim) in the time honored tradition of Running of the Bulls in Pamplona, Spain. Surviving Pamplona my wanderlust took me into the Basque region of San Sebastian. Afterwards, I took a slice of La Dolce Vita by plunging into Italy via the car traffic free, but pedestrian traffic filled Cinque Terre, ate gelato under the Tuscan rain in Siena, and footslogged through the rainy streets of the Eternal City with my friend Andy. To paraphrase Hemingway there is really no way to describe this journey but hopefully these photos will do it some justice. All photos copyright by Sam Antonio.
