Now Plant It!
Plant your moisture-loving plants. To keep the soil surface from drying out and to keep the undersides of your plants’ leaves clean and healthy, cover the bog garden with a ½” layer of pea gravel, tucking the gravel around plant stems and under leaves. Because the bog garden is lined, you are not limited to constructing a depression. If you have raised beds or you garden on a natural hillside, you can incorporate a bog garden into that scheme using the same technique. In nature, boggy soil can occur on hilltops and hillsides as well as in low areas.
