About The Artist
About the artist:
Lori has always had a love for art and creativity. She completed her first oil painting at the age of nine. Her plans for majoring in art were put on the backburner when she had another calling to become a registered nurse. She put her brushes aside, went off to nursing school and graduated with honors. She worked as a nurse at UCONN Health Center on a complex medical surgical unit caring for a wide variety of patients. Some patients were cancer or AIDS and some were open heart surgery patients. She got her certification in medical surgical nursing. She continued on to get her degree at night, graduated, and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau International Nursing Honor Society. She then specialized in nephrology and helped the nephrologists open UCONN Dialysis Center in 1999. She started the home peritoneal dialysis program and PreESRD Education program for patients with kidney disease. She married and later started a family. One Valentine's Day her husband asked her "What do you really want for Valentine's Day?". She responded , A sign that reads Always Kiss Me Goodnight ". They found one, but knew they could create their own together & that would be more meaningful. She asked if she could go to a class to learn to paint a rose & then have some "quiet time" away from the baby to perfect her skill. She did, and soon they created their sign- him carving the wood & her painting it. Soon after, they saw a show in town looking for local artists & Rob encouraged her to "Go do it..".
With that, The Treasured Rose was born. Lori began creating such beautiful items as growth charts, violet pots, planters, mailboxes, stemware, and ornaments , these were some of the first items. Lori started taking orders from friends, and friends of friends. A couple of stores asked to display and sell her painted pretties. As the order list grew, so did their daughter. Several years ago, Lori and Rob decided to have Lori stay at home with their daughter while growing The Treasured Rose. Lori is still a nurse and works as a substitute nurse at her daughter's school and per diem at UCONN Dialysis Center.
"This is truly the best of both worlds- my family, and my love of painting and my nursing career... Treasured times at "The Treasured Rose"... Thank you for stopping by ~ Lori

Wow, what a surprise I had today when I got home from school. A big box with my name on it was sitting on the dinning room table. What a beautiful vase I thought - wow I'll have to call Rob and Lori to say thank you. I'll email you my discovery
