Long Distance Services
Guidelines for sending us your wedding flowers long
distance to Ideally, you will want to ship the flowers immediately following your ceremony. However, if that’s not possible, you will want to keep the bouquet as fresh as possible between ceremony and packing at last minute before you are able to ship to us. If the bouquet is a HAND-TIED style, place it in a vase of enough water so the bottoms of the stems can drink. Please check to see if the bottom of the stems have been wrapped by florist to form barrier. If so, cut the bottom so the stems can drink water. If the bouquet is a CASCADE style or otherwise arranged in a holder with foam insert, there should be ample water in the foam, so no need to try to add more. It is important to keep the flower blooms themselves dry (no misting or wrapping in plastic where moisture will form around them...) If possible, place the bouquet in a refrigerator or other cool and dry place. In any event, keep them out of direct sunlight/heat source and upright. You might want to purchase a couple of gel packets from the grocery store and freeze them to help keep the flowers cool in transit-- especially important in warm/hot weather. We suggest that you tape them to the bottom of the box or small, Styrofoam cooler, to keep them from falling around inside the box, potentially damaging the flowers. Place plastic over the gel pack to minimize "wicking" condensed moisture onto flowers and a few layers of newspaper on top of the plastic. For HAND-TIED bouquets, we suggest that you wrap paper toweling around the stems and then, in plastic wrap and secure with rubber band. This should help separate the wet stems from getting the flowers wet in transit. Then, gently wrap the bouquet loosely in tissue paper, surrounded by a couple layers of newspaper and package them loosely with Styrofoam peanuts or shredded paper. If possible, pack them in a Styrofoam cooler inside a sturdy box with another layer of firmly packed shredded paper or foam peanuts between the cooler and outer box. This helps provide a bit of a "shock absorbing" effect while helping to insulate the flowers. If you are able to attend to this attention to detail in keeping your flowers fresh before carefully packing to ship to us overnight, they’ll do great! We have found that if you are able to do the packing yourself and send overnight for AM delivery, through USPS, the costs are a great deal more reasonable than bouquets that have been "custom packed" by a packing company like UPS Store or Mailboxes, Etc.
