Punchneedle Projects

Welcome to my newest passion, punchneedle embroidery. I've fallen in love with translating some of my papier mache designs to punchneedle so I'll have something to do when I'm not doing papier mache. All designs are my original, copyrighted designs, with the exception of the rabbit in picture three, which is done from a pattern by Brenda Gervais. All designs are copyrighted by myself or their respective owners, should I add any other pieces done from patterns/kits by other designers. All rights reserved.

Punchneedle embroidery is an old type of needlework first known as Miniature Russian Punchneedle Embroidery. It is done with a special needle and a hoop or gripper frame that allows you to stretch the fabric DRUM TIGHT so you can punch..much like doing a hooked rug. I use DMC floss almost exclusively, due to its ease of availability. There are many delicious kinds of over dyed threads available but, fortuanately for me, they are not where I can see them in person. Otherwise I would be addicted.... Punchneedle can be finished by framing or mounting on all sorts of surfaces. You can also make wonderful pillows with wide fabric "frames" or do just about anything your imagination can think of.
