she feeds the world
i call this one my urban Madonna. it's made entirely of recycled and repurposed materials. the base is an old clothing display piece that i collaged with text and pattern paper then painted with glazes. i then cut a hole in the belly to place an old ribbon spool with poppy pod inside. her wings/scales are from a broken steamer and her head is made from a 45 record, carved wooden bowl, & painted fabric rose. her halo and atomic skirt are made from wire and a plastic mesh. chi chis are broken metal candle holders. this is the largest assemblage i've ever created(about 3 feet tall). it was shown in 2 collaborative art exhibits showcasing creative reuse artwork.
