My Victorian Shop My husband bought me this Honeychurch Victorian shop ready built for Christmas 1987. Due to family and work responsibilities it stayed unloved and often undusted on the chest of drawers on the landing for 14 years. When I had to retire early from work 6 years ago I began to 'kit bash' it. I added dormers, changed a window into a door so that the occupant could access the balcony, added a window on the landing, widened the stairs and doorways. All this took ages and then I got stuck because I was terrified of wiring it! Once I got past that hurdle I decorated, painted and collected but still something stopped me finishing it. Perhaps it was all the other classes, holidays and weekends making other miniatures that took up my time and creative energies? Or it might have been that I couldn't get the doors to fit in the openings provided. Once given a push by a good friend I spent a week finishing off various bits and pieces and now - wow it's finished. Well not quite, are they ever finished? Edith has moved into La vie en Rose but although as of today she hasn't put away her treasures she is making a house a home! March 18th 2005 |
