The media intends of making Oakland look like an urban wasteland that is home to nothing more than rundown neighborhoods, gangs, drug addicts, homeless folks, and etc. However, Oakland also features excellent restuarants, trendy neighborhoods, redwoods up in the hills, and some of the most expensive real estate in California. In other words, don't believe what the media says.

This is a picture guide to one of Oakland's most beloved neighborhoods; The Piedmont District. Note that this neighborhood should NOT be confused with the city of Piedmont, which is nearby. A very walkable neighborhood, the Piedmont features a great mixture of restuarants, bars, mom-and-pop stores, coffee houses, and other cool hangout spots.
