Road Trip: Pacific Coast Highway 2005 (2)

"There are mountains which seem to reach the heavens and the sea beats on them. Sailing along close to land, it appears as though they would fall on the ships." -Juan Cabrillo sailing past Big Sur, 1542

July 14, 2005 - From Hearst Castle to the seaside town of Carmel lies 90 miles of coastline commonly known as Big Sur. The Pacific Coast Highway or Highway 1 is a narrow, twisting, and at some points death defying drive along one of the most spectacular coastline in the world. Put it on your traveler's checklist of things to do. Photos and text copyright by Sam Antonio. To purchase prints or to license an image please contact me at bircher@earthlink.net.
