Grafting the C4 Corvette front suspension I saw a 1990's Corvette at a car show one day, and after looking at those cool aluminum a-arms, I was thinking they'd be nice on my Nomad. It wasn't until some time later that I saw a '57 Chevy chassis built by Rick Roush with a Corvette suspension. After looking at that chassis, I decided I would attempt a similar conversion. Later I found that Car Creations was in the same market and I looked at one of their frames in person. I bought a complete Corvette front suspension off of Ebay and set out to start the project. I spent a few weeks with the GM frame drawings and measuring my Corvette front end parts, and came up with a design I felt was workable with what I had to work with. I then built a frame jig to hold the parts in place while I worked on the fabrication of the front clip and rear mounting brackets. Little did I know how valuable that jig would be. During my frame construction, I also built chassis for Don Decker of Wyoming, Wade Linger of West Virginia, Bruce Bourgoin of Utah, a front clip and rearend installation kit for Paul Benson of North Carolina, another chassis for Marty Jones of Washington state, a chassis for Dan Fenwick from Ohio, and one for Ernie Mathews from California. Some of my other albums show construction of those chassis. |
