Sadly, both Imzadi and Riker had to be euthanized in August 2005 due to feline hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (HCM), a very big problem in the breed. Riker was diagnosed with HCM at 9 months and he was beginning to fade by 2005. With Imzadi it was a total surprise--she had some dental work done and suffered heart failure. The stress of her death severely impacted Riker, he was euthanized a week later.
