Centsible Cat
I'm a saver by nature-save money, save the trees, save the baby seals-and when I'm able to combine my savings, it's so much better. Among the local charities, our Humane Society fits right in to my philosophy-they save pets, finding homes for as many as possible through their no-kill shelter. When stopping by to drop off food purchased for pennies (or free), I have always been tempted by the adorable animals. While our very old cat was still alive, I didn't feel like I should bring a new animal into our home.
However, when we found ourselves petless when he died at 23 years old last summer, I wasn't quite ready to adopt for a while. I thought a cat would find us by now, but none did, so I was ready.then Walgreens had the offer of
2 movie tickets with $20 P&G purchase-it was a sign! Iams cat food was on the list of qualifying products, so I stocked up on cat food (and got a free movie date at the same time!) and took off for the shelter. There were so many adorable cats-how could we ever choose? As it turns out, my husband (who wasn't even sure he wanted another cat) was with me, and he swears this cute little cat was flirting with him.how could I turn her down, when she and my husband bonded through the cage? Since there was quite obviously no other possible choice, we started the adoption process. To our surprise, they were having a "special" this month, and we saved $50 on the adoption fee-I think that makes it a double play! Reading through the paperwork on the way home, I discovered we also had received a coupon for a free bag of premium pet food from a local pet store-it's a triple play! So now Charlotte, our "sale" cat, who came complete with months of food and 2 movie tickets, is providing us with endless love and entertainment. What more could a saver want?
