Hollie Wulf
Hollie Wulf Algonquin, IL What a wild week it has been. In our northwest Chicago suburb we have an unbelievable mecca of shopping! Within a one mile range we have two Walgreens, a Dominicks, a Jewel, a Cub Foods, a Meijer, a Super Target, an Aldi, a Wal*Mart and many other stores just beyond that range. It is a shoppers dream come true. The only bad thing I can say about this is that none of our stores double coupons. The best thing about it is that most of our grocery stores accept expired coupons pretty much without regard to expiration dates. Since the competition is fierce, the store ads usually have some pretty amazing deals each week. Here is this weeks deal. It wasn't just a local deal as I've read everyone within driving distance of a Meijer store has participated! The deal was in the ad. It read: "Get $5 INSTANTLY off your order when you buy any one 12oz. package of Kraft American Cheese Slices AND one package of selected Nabisco crackers such as Triscuits or Nabisco cookies such as Chips Ahoy AND one bottle of V8 Splash Juice drinks!" A fellow Illinois Good Deal Loop buddy quickly added up the total of all items and posted that it would be only about .41 for all three items, even without coupons! Of course, I did have coupons for all the items listed in this deal. The ad mentioned nothing about a limit to this deal so at first I tried doing two of the deals in one order. The register took off $10 immediately after scanning all items from the advertised deal. I had a bit of overage with my coupons so I ended up with some much needed ground beef for free. I went back the next day (since I can pretty much walk there!) and did two more orders each containing four of the deals. Again, it worked like a charm. The register took off $20 for each order. I, again, paid basically nothing for all the items except a few pennies for the tax on some other things that were from the overage. Wow, I was on a roll! Every time I paid for my items at Meijer, I was always told that I was a great shopper. I was never hassled once about the totals, or lack of totals! If every deal could be this good, we'd all be happy! The ad for Meijer ends Saturday. Today is only Wednesday. I'm already up to 40 of each item. I donate 99% off my free hauls to our local food pantry. By the time Saturday rolls around, the food pantry should be fairly well stocked on cheese, crackers, cookies and juice! I just love a good deal.
