The Medical Ledger Our Great Grandfather was a town doctor in Arkansas. For Christmas this year, my sister took a page from his medical ledger from the late 1800's and framed it "museum style" for me. She chose this page because my birthday (February 10th) is one of dates he received payment (By Straw)from a patient. It's interesting to see all of the different ways his patients paid for his medical services (By hauling, by meat, by work, etc). I wonder what he would think of today's health insurance.
