The beginning of a LONG project

I bought this car in 1973 in Kansas City, Missouri shortly after a 1955 Chevy 2-door sedan I built was stolen. I had put a lot of hard work into the '55, and I lost part of myself when it was gone. I was on a mission to find another car to build, and had my sights set on a Nomad. I didn't know much about these cars at the time, so I didn't look it over too well before buying it. But for $500 for a complete, drivable car, it was a steal in retrospect.

The car had more rust than I would have liked, but I spent some time patching it up and eventually replaced some sheetmetal and painted it myself. I started out building a 60's style "gasser", then went with a fully independent suspension...stock in front, and '69 Corvette in the rear. I did a lot of bodywork on it in the late 70's and early 80's and painted it in 1981. Shortly thereafter, the car went into dry storage until 2001. Now it's under construction with a totally new theme. It will basically be a stock body with a modern suspension and drivetrain. The front and rear suspension will be from an early 90's Corvette with Aldan coilovers, lowered as much as I dare. The engine will be a fuel injected 502 cubic inch big block chevy, and I'll use a Viper T56 6-speed transmission. The interior will have a lot of modern upgrades as well. I expect 550-600 horsepower and close to 20 mpg on the highway.....am I nuts? If you have any questions or comments please send e-mail to Lnobi53@yahoo.com
