Lafayette Cemetery
On Washington Avenue across from the Commander's Palace Restaurant in the Garden District, it is one of New Orlean's oldest cemeteries. Tombs and other above ground burial techniques are used because the city lies 4 to 6 feet below sea level. Floating coffins just aren't appealing.
