Scrapbooking - where to start? It has become almost an obsession and constant drain on my finances!! I began scrapbooking after I had seen a miniature 1:12th scrapbook store on the internet and asked a friend what it was. She replied that I didn't/shouldn't want to know. She was right in a way. My husband has almost no photographs of his childhood as his mother's house was cleared by the then girlfriend of his elder brother. At the time I was in hospital with breast cancer so we were in no position to help or obtain some photos for ourselves. Nor all sorts of other momentos or even my own property! Anyway I don't want our 2 sons to be in that sort of situation so I planned to make them an album (or 2) of their childhood from their perspective and a family album each. Our photographs from later years can also be scrapped and the duff ones thrown away - so really it is a clutter busting exercise. Oh HAHAHAHA!!!!!!!!! Excuse me! The house is bursting at the seams with scrapbook tools, albums, paper, embellishments, stickers etc etc etc etc!! I had made a couple of basic scrapbook type photo albums in the past using memorabilia as well as photos - now I know what I know about archival standards I have begun to remake both of them. One is an album of my first visit to Paris and the other a clebration of our 25th wedding anniversary. Neither are the 12" x12" type. The Paris album is 6" x 6" and the Silver Wedding one is about 8" x 5". It has handmade paper pages so I am hoping they are reasonable acid and lignin free. |
