Polynesian Cultural Center

Friday, July 23, 2004 - Today we spent the day at the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC). We started the day by visiting the Iolani Royal Palace in downtown Honolulu. We then took a beautiful drive up the windward coast passing little beach towns like Kaawa, Hauula, Punuluu and Kahaluu.

At the PCC we experienced cultural demonstrations and later that evening we watched a show. The PCC was built by the Mormon Church and all proceeds help the native students from Polynesia (who are the workers there) with scholarship money to attend Hawaii's Brigham Young University. This gives new meaning to the LDS church - Latter Day Surfers. Photos and text copyright by Sam Antonio. To purchase prints or to license an image please contact me at bircher@earthlink.net.
