MS Society of Canada (Windsor/Essex County Chapter) (Phase 1 & II of IV)
On Saturday, June 19th, 2004, The Multiple Sclerosis Society Windsor/Essex County Chapter, The Bergeron Family and the City of Windsor unveiled the first phase of four of the George Bergeron Healing Garden. This project was made possible because of a very generous donation made by Doug Bergeron, son of our late chairperson George. As the Healing Garden is completed phase after phase, you can see photos of it's progress here. In Phase II, the Ontario Trillium Foundation of Ontartio granted us their financial assistance for the addition of a Gazebo and a paved pathway leading to the garden from the parking lot. It's just beautiful! We celebrated the completion of Phase II on November 18, 2005 with the grand opening of the completed Phase II. This garden is located in Alexander Park at Riverside Drive and Strabane. Over the next few years we will be adding a gazebo, seating, accessible pathway, additional plantings and possibly handrails. The garden will on completion contain plants with healing properties as well as pleasing scents. Due to the very wet spring, completion of the first phase was a remarkable achievement. We would like to extend our sincere thank you to the following: Fullerton Construction Appealing Designs Santini Landscape and Concrete Hallmark Memorial Seifker Inc. L&R Mobile Wash Parks and Forestry - Horticulture City Council Mayor Eddie Francis and Mr. Joe Comartin MP for taking time out of their weekend to attend our opening. This meant so much to all of us! You have all helped make our garden grow!
